By Mike Branch

It was a rough week
for the Bulldog baseball
team of Wheeler County
High School as they were
swept in a three-game
Region series by the Pa
triots of Wilcox County.
Game 1
In the first game of
the series on Tuesday in
Rochelle, Wheeeler took
the early lead with a run
in the top of the first in
ning, but in the bottom
of the second inning Wil
cox made a move with
three runs to take the
lead, 3-1.
The Patriots added
three more in the fourth
inning and then capped
off the game with five in
the bottom of the sixth to
win by the run rule, 11-1.
Game 2
On Friday the Bull
dogs and Patriots met for
a double header in Al
amo. In the first game
Wilcox put two on the
board in the first inning,
and four more in the sec
ond as they built up a 6-0
lead.
They added a run in
each of the fourth and
sixth innings to get the
8-0 win over Wheeler.
Game 3
It was another run
rule game for the Patriots
over Wheeler in the night
cap of the Friday double
header. Wilcox had three
runs in the first, but
Wheeler held them in the
second and third innings.
The Patriots added
one in the fourth, and
then exploded for 10
runs in the fifth inning to
close out the game by the
run rule, 14-0.
Wheeler is now 1-10
on the season, and 1-5 in
Region play. This week
they will face off with
Telfair County for a
three-game series. The
first game was on Tues
day after presstime, and
they will play a double
header on Friday in
McRae with the first
game starting at 4:00
p.m.
