Mrs. Dorothy Morris
Mrs. Dorothy “Dot”
Hall Morris, age 97, of Adri
an, died on Wednesday,
August 18, 2021, under the
care of Fairview Park Hos
pital in Dublin.
Mrs. Morris was a life
long resident of Adrian.
She worked for 35 years at
JP Stevens Woolen Mill.
She was the 2020 Grand
Marshall of the Adrian
Christmas Parade. She was
preceded in death by her
parents, Harvey and Levada
Spence Hall; her husband
of 64 years, Thomas Ralph
Morris; her brothers, Hom
er Hall, Morris Foskey, and
Joel Key; and her sisters,
Zelma Knowles, Myrtice
Hall, Avis Palmer, and Jack
ie Meeks.
Survivors include 2
sons and daughters-in-law,
Wayne Morris (Wrena) of
Adrian, and Jerry Morris
(Lorraine) of Swainsboro;
5 grandchildren, Gene
Morris, Jamie Morris, Amy
Whitaker, Stefanie Spann,
and Danton Morris; 9 great
grandchildren, Kaylin Jack-
son, Hunter Whitaker, Ma
son Spann, Jordan Morris,
Jesley Snellgrove, Hannah
Whitaker, Weslyn Snell
grove, Jaxon Spann, and
Calli Morris; and 5 great-
great-grandchildren, Sadie
Whitaker, Parker Whitaker,
River Whitaker, Brintley
Jackson and Lakeland Jack-
son.
Graveside services were
conducted on Sunday, Au
gust 22, 2021, at 4:00 p.m.,
at Poplar Springs Method
ist Church Cemetery, with
Rev. Tommy Veal and Rev.
L.T. Logue officiating.

Jordan Morris, Phillip Mor
ris, Jim Palmer, and Hunter
Whitaker.

Mrs. Evie Mathis
Mrs. Evie Lee Mathis,
age 71, of Lyons, died on
Tuesday, August 24, 2021,
at Doctor’s Hospital in Au
gusta.
Mrs. Mathis was born in
Laurens County. She grew
up in Dublin and attended
East Laurens High School.
She worked as a machine
operator at the Oxford Shirt
Factory in Dublin and J. P.
Forstmann Manufacturing
before opening and run
ning, with her sister Mavis,
Teddy Land Daycare in East
Dublin. She later worked at
Mohawk Manufacturing in
Dublin before she and her
husband started a home
cleaning service. She was a
former member of the Dub
lin Church of God and was
presently attending New
Beginning Church of God
in Lyons. She was preced
ed in death by her parents,
Ottis and Mozell Johnson
Townsend; her husbands,
Charles R. Mimbs and
R.D. Thompson; 1 son,
Shane Mimbs; 1 stepson,
Robert D. Mathis; and sib
lings, Lottie Faye Cantrell,
Walter Townsend, Osbert
Townsend and James A.
Townsend.
Survivors include her
husband, Jim Mathis, Ly
ons; 1 daughter, Crystal
Smith (Dennis), Lyons; 1
stepson, Christopher An
thony Mathis, Claxton;

August 30, 2021, at 11:00
a.m., at the Dublin Church
of God, with Pastor Steve
Hardeman and Pastor Mike
Smith officiating. Interment
followed in Northview
Cemetery in Dublin.

Mr. Robert Sharpe, Sr.
Mr. Robert Charles
Sharpe, Sr., of Lyons, died
on August 18,2021, at Com
munity Hospice in Vidalia.
Mr. Sharpe was a native
of Toombs County and was
a farmer.
Survivors include his
wife, Ezell Sharpe; his sons,
Robert Sharpe, Jr., Henry
Lee Sharpe, Jasper Sharpe,
Hughey Sharpe, Nelson
Sharpe, David Sharpe, and
Ray Hardin; and his daugh
ters, Shelia Fields, Velma
Harden, and Wanda Sharpe.

Mr. Raiford Beasley
Mr. Raiford Beasley,
age 86, of Vidalia, passed
away on Monday, August
23, 2021, at Community
Hospice of Vidalia follow
ing a lengthy illness.
He was born on March
9, 1935, in Lyons, GA, to
the late John Norris and
Mary Jane Hutcheson Bea
sley. He had worked as a
farmer all of his life and
was preceded in death by
sisters, Letha Beasley, Li-
leraye Beasley, and John
nie Mae Johnson; and one
brother, Archie Beasley.
He enjoyed his animals,
his dogs, fishing, growing
and planting his own crops
and watching them grow.
He also loved the outdoors
and lived his life freely.
Mr. Beasley is sur
vived by two sons, Mar
lon and Milan Beasley;
four daughters, Marilyn
Waters, Heather, Rachel,
and Amanda Beasley; five
grandchildren, three great
grandchildren, and neph
ew, Jeffery Johnson.
The family received
friends on Wednesday
evening, August 25, 2021,
from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00
p.m. at Roberts-Stewart
Funeral Home of Vidalia.
Funeral service was
held at 11:00 a.m. on
Thursday, August 26,
2021, at Roberts-Stewart
Funeral Home Chapel of
Vidalia. Graveside service
and interment followed at
Hutcheson Cemetery in
Soperton.

Vernon, passed away on
August 26, 2021, in Mc

brief illness.
He was born on Au
gust 2, 1938, to the late
Charles and Margaret
Ward. He was a native of
Atlanta, GA, and worked
as a truck driver.
Mr. Ward is preceded
in death by his mother,
Hazel Ward Tharpe, who
lovingly raised him as her
own since he was an infant
after the passing of Marga
ret Kyle Ward; one brother,
Ricky Tharpe; one son,
Charles (Chuckie) Ward,
Jr.; one grandson, Dillan
Porter; and one grand
daughter, Danielle Gard
ner.
He is survived by one
son, Russell Ward of Mon
roe, GA; two daughters,
Donna Cowan of Cedar-
town, GA, and Delores
Ward of Dallas, GA; two
brothers, Johnny Tharpe
of Griffin, GA, and Jimmy
Ward of Douglasville, GA;
two sisters, Judy Padgett
of McDonough, GA, and
Laura Tharpe of Atlanta,
GA; one aunt, Allene
Couch of Douglasville,
GA; five grandchildren;
and numerous cousins and

Harrison, age 90, formerly
of Soperton, died on Satur
day, August 21,2021, at the
Douglas Center for Caring
in Jacksonville, FL.
Mrs. Harrison was
born in Treutlen County
and was a lifelong resident
of Soperton. She worked
as the cafeteria manager at
the Treutlen County Mid
dle and High School until
she retired in 2001. She
attended Red Bluff Bap
tist Church. She was pre
ceded in death by her par
ents, Aubrey and Lucille
McLendon Parrish; her
husband, Felton Lee Har
rison; 1 daughter, Brenda
Harrison; 1 sister, Shelby
P. Nobles; and 1 grandson,
Zachary Harrison.
Survivors include 2
sons, Alan Kevin Harrison
(Teresa), Yulee, FL, and
Tony Lee Harrison (De
nise), Fernandina Beach,

Mr. Dewey Lee Hester,
Jr., age 69, died on Tuesday,
August 24, 2021.
Mr. Hester was born
in Treutlen County, where
he lived most of his life.
He attended school in
Treutlen County, was a
self-employed truck driver
and a Veteran of the Unit
ed States Army, where he
served as a
mechanic and
truck driver.
During his
service in
the Korean
Conflict, he received the
National Defense Service
Medal, the Sharpshooter
( M-16 Rifle ) and the
Armed Forces Expedition
ary Medal (Korea). He
attended Oasis Church
of God in Lyons. He was
preceded in death by his
parents, Dewey Lee, Hes
ter, Sr., and Georgie Mae
Walker Hester; 1 sister,
Edna H. Couey; and 2
brothers, James Elmer and
Leon Hester.
Survivors include

Mrs. Eva Harden
Mrs. Eva Zell Harden,
age 94, of Lyons, passed
away in the early hours of
the morning on August 26,
2021, at The Oaks at Beth
any following an extended
illness.
She was born on April
3, 1927, in Vidalia to the
late Calvin Ephriam and
Jannie Halligan Cannady.
She was a lifelong resident
of Toombs County, was a
homemaker for most of her
life, and was the oldest liv
ing member of the Oasis
Church of God.
Mrs. Eva was preceded
in death by her husband,
John W. Harden in 2009;
her son, Ronnie Wil
liam Harden in 2019; her
daughter, Peggy Ann Cow
art in 2011; five sisters,
Daisy Osborne, Florence
Dexter, Laurabell Seeby,
Nellie Lofton Folkston,
and Maudie Womack; and
one brother, Buddy Can
nady.
Mrs. Eva is survived by
three sons, Wayne Harden
(Joany) of Dublin; Wen
dell Harden (Connie) of
Harvest, Alabama, and
Joseph Harden of Lyons;
three daughters, Vera Bry
ant (Earl) of Hazlehurst,
Judy Newsome of Blue
Ridge, and Diane (Allen)
Heatherington of Lyons;
two sisters, Sue Toole of
Johnson Corner, and Fran
ces Bourghltzer of Jack
sonville, FL. Twenty-eight
grandchildren; fifty-two
great-grandchildren; and
eighteen great-great grand
children also survive.
