Cason Banks led the offense getting on base in all four at bats, including a two run bomb and scoring three runs. Kaleb Bennett had three hits and scored three runs as well. Mon- cus, Patel, Ricks and Moye each had two hits. In the 1st inning Banks led off with a walk and stole second. With one out Bennett doubled to right center scoring Banks. With two outs Lowe singled home Bennett to give Vi- dalia a 2-0 start. In the bot tom half Dodge County got a one out double but Patel got a strike out, and then when the next batter singled to left, the runner was thrown out at the plate to leave the score at 2-0 Vidalia after one complete. In the 2nd inning Vi- dalia got another run. Morgan Moye led off with a double and Conner Whited moved him to third with a sacrifice bunt. Stewart followed with an RBI single. When the Dodge County Indians went down 1-2-3 in the bottom half, the Vidalia In dians were ahead 3-0 after two complete. Vidalia couldn't get anything going in the top of the 3rd inning, going scoreless for the only in ning of the game. How ever, Dodge County took advantage of an error, a wild pitch on a strikeout and four singles to plate four runs and take a 4-3 lead after three complete innings. That deficit was quickly erased in the top of the 4th inning as Vidalia scored five more times to take an 8-4 lead. Whited led the inning off with a single. Bennett and Patel both scored on wild pitches, giving Vidalia an 8-4 lead. McDonald made that lead stand up in the bottom half as he struck out the side. Vidalia came right back in the top of the 5th inning to score seven more runs to put the game out of reach. Both girls doubles teams advanced to the Elite 8 with the boys doubles team, JaShaun Powell(sr.) and Justin Bowers (soph.), finishing 3rd in Region. Moncus and Ben nett scored on the same wild pitch. Ricks singled, putting men on 1st and 3rd with Moye following with an RBI single of his own, moving to second as the outfielder mishandled to ball. Andrew Norfleet came on to pinch hit and singled on the first pitch he saw driving both runners home. Moncus pitched a scoreless bottom of the 5th to close out the 15-4 win. The Indians have four Region games remaining, which are all scheduled to be played this week. The Indians were at Appling County on Monday to kick off the three-game series, and Appling was in Vidalia on Tuesday for senior night for the Indians with both of those games after press time. VHS will return to Baxley on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. to wrap up the series. Vidalia will then be at Pierce County on Thurs day at 6:00 p.m. to finish off the regular season with that game to determine their status for Round 1 of the State Playoffs. sporting event was the weather. VHA defeated Telfair County on Monday and beat The Habersham School on Tuesday. Heritage lost to Gatewood Academy on Friday in extra innings, vs. Telfair It was a close game between the Eagles and the Trojans on Monday. VHA got the scoring started in the top of the second inning with two runs. Telfair tied the game in the bottom of the fourth inning to make it 2-2, but VHA added a run in the top of the fifth in ning for a 3-2 lead. Heri tage then held in the sixth and seventh to take the win, 3-2. Ledger Curl led the team with 2 hits, and Greer Posey got the win on the mound. vs. Habersham It was a three inning blowout for the Eagles over the Patriots of Habersham with two Ea gles getting home runs in the game. In the top of the first inning, VHA scored five runs to take the early lead, but it was the sec ond inning that put the game away. Heritage went on a tear as they plated 13 runs in the inning to push their lead to 18-0. The Eagles scored three more in the third inning on the way to a 21-0 win. Curl led the way with 3 hits including a home run and 7 RBI's. Greyson Price also had a home run in the game and picked up 6 RBI's. Gray McNeal was the winning pitcher for Heritage. vs. Gatewood It was a close game that needed an extra in ning to be decided. Heri tage went up early with a run in the first and an other in the second in ning to lead 2-0. VHA made it 3-0 in the fifth inning, but in the top of the sixth Gatewood plated two runs to close it to 3-2. Heritage answered with a run in the bottom of the sixth to take a 4-2 lead, but in the top of the seventh inning Gatewood scored two more runs to tie the game at 4-4. Heri tage couldn't get a run across in the bottom of the seventh as the game went to extra innings. In the top of the eighth inning Gatewood put something together as they scored three runs to take a 7-4 lead. Gate- wood then held Heritage in the bottom half as they got the win over the Ea gles 7-4. This week VHA was at Robert Toombs on Tuesday after presstime.
