Thurston Kirby who has been
in school at Dahlonega was
brought home last week danger¬

physicians decided he had ap¬
pendicitis and typhoid fever.
Dr. Davis of Atlanta was called
by wire and an operation was
performed Sunday which con¬
firmed this diagnosis.
The appendix had sloughed off
and suppuration had taken place
and the bowels were ruptured.
The patient rallied from the op¬

claim there is hope for" him. If
he recovers it will be almost a
miracle of surgery.

It seems that our people are al¬

that we need these improvements
and must have them if our town
is to grow as it should. They
are now doing some figuring to

to stand the expense.
At the next Session of the Gen¬

the prospect is good that some
way will be found to install the
improvements above mentioned,
by issuing bonds or organizing

The editor sat in his hard bot¬

thought, and he ploughed his
fingers about his hair, but not a
new topic they brought. He’d
written on temperance, tariff

raising a crop, and joked about
ice cream and weak lemonade,
till his subscribers had warned
him to stop; and weary of think-,
ing, sleep came to his eyes as he
pillowed his head on the desk,
when the thoughts while awake
refused to arise, came in drops
that were strange and grotesque.
