Reporting on local fires,
wrecks and arrests
Numerous arrests reported
Man crossing street turns out
to have outstanding warrant
The Winder Police Department reported
the following recent activity:
•warrant served on May Street; an officer
stopped a pedestrian that was crossing the
street outside of a crosswalk and when he
checked his identification, it was revealed
that the subject, Walter Trent Aaron, Jr., 42,
of Glen Avenue, Winder, had an outstand
ing warrant from Fulton County and was
taken into custody.
•traffic stop on Beulah Street for failure
to maintain lane; the driver, Pamela Louise
Vrooman, 52, of Spring Hill Court, Mon
roe, did not have a license in her posses
sion and told the officer the tag displayed
was for another vehicle. The officers
could detect an odor of alcohol coming
from inside the vehicle and were given
permission
to search the vehicle. One opened can
of beer and one unopened can of beer was
located and officers attempted to do field
sobriety evaluations. Vrooman was not
able to follow instructions or perform the
tests. She was arrested and charged with
failure to maintain lane, using a tag to
conceal the identity of a vehicle, expired
tag, failure to yield to an emergency vehi
cle, open container of alcohol and driving
while license suspended.
•attempted traffic stop on E. May Street
for failure to yield; the vehicle continued
on ignoring the officers emergency lights,
making a turn onto Maynard Street and
then onto First Street, failing to stop at a
stop sign at First and Richardson Streets.
The vehicle came to a stop at the intersec
tion of First Street and Wade Street, with
the driver and the front seat passenger
jumping out of the car and running in
opposite directions. The passenger in the
backseat, Montez Arlando Watson, 29, of
Elm Street, Winder, remained in the vehi
cle, telling officers he did not know the
other two subjects that he had just caught a
ride with them. An inventory of the vehicle
was completed and Watson was charged
with possession of marijuana with intent
to distribute and possession of drug related
objects.
•traffic stop on S. Broad Street for head
light violation; the driver Erick Lamar
Chavez, 17, of Twelve Oaks Drive, Winder,
was taken into custody for driving without
a license and headlight violation.
•an attempt to serve an arrest warrant on
Fairview Court; officers were advised the
individual they were looking for no longer
lived at the residence. The officer smelled
marijuana coming from the residence and
the male answering the door was cited for
misdemeanor possession of marijuana after
handing over a bag containing less than
one ounce. A search of the residence was
conducted and no other drugs were found.
•assault report on Box Circle; a female
reported going to ask her neighbor if they
could call her cell phone because she could
not locate it and a black male answered
the door and punched he in the face two
or three times with a closed fist. Officers
were unable to located anyone at the resi
dence or identify the suspect.
•traffic stop for an inoperable tail light
on Maynard Street; the driver, Brandon
Scott Steedley, 31, of Wages Circle, Dac-
ula, was placed under arrest for driving on
a suspended license and taillight require
ments.
•traffic stop on E. May Street for no
insurance and a suspended registration; the
driver was issued a citation and the vehicle
was towed.
•suspicious vehicle check on Capitol
Avenue; an officer observed a black male
and female that appeared to be engaged in
intercourse.
After allowing the two to put their
clothes back on before opening the car
door, the officer immediately noticed the
odor of marijuana. As a result of a vehicle
search, Cagin Aquade Sherman, 19, of For
est Street, Buford and Nadee Renee Santi
ago, 17, of Mimosa Street, Winder, were
each charged with public indecency and
possession and use of drug related objects.
•shoplifting report at Corkie’s on N.
Broad Street; five items were reported
missing from the store.
•hit and run on Monroe Highway; com
plainant reported his vehicle being hit
while in the parking lot of Winder Corners
Shopping Center.
•hit and run on N. Broad Street; the
at-fault driver fled the scene on foot and
was later apprehended and brought back
to the scene.
Jonathan Dwayne Anglin, 28, of John
son Mill Road, Jefferson, was arrested
for hit and run/leaving the scene of an
accident, following too closely, possession
of methamphetamine, driving under the
influence of drugs (DUI/drugs) and driving
on a suspended license.
•accident with injuries on King Street;
the driver, Tiffany Brooke Hicks, 17, of
Ashford Court, Gainesville, veered off the
road and into a ditch. After being checked
by emergency medical services, Hicks was
taken into custody and charged with driv
ing under the influence/under 21, failure to
maintain lane and consumption of alcohol
under 21 years of age.
•custody dispute on Circle Drive; com
plainant reported that the mother of his
child was not abiding by the court order
for the time he had visitation of their child.
•traffic stop for failure to maintain lane
on Candler Street; the driver, Verona Dan
iel, 47, of Northridge Court, Winder, was
arrested for DUI/drugs, failure to maintain
lane and possession of a schedule II con
trolled substance.
•warrant arrest on Dreamland Circle;
Jonathan Douglas Smith, 44 of Dreamland
Circle, Winder, was taken into custody.
•traffic stop for failure to maintain lane
on May Street; Sheree Lynn Thompson, 26,
of Bridgeport Place, Monroe, was placed
under arrest and charged with obstruction,
failure to maintain lane, possession of mar
ijuana, no license on person and refusal to
sign citations.
•traffic stop for a window tint violation
on May Street; the driver, Georgeio Bill
ings, 26, of Lee Street, Winder, was taken
into custody for driving while unlicensed,
giving false name, address or date of birth
to a law enforcement officer and window
tint violation. The passenger in the vehi
cle, Keith A. Riden, 49, of New Liberty
Church Road, Braselton, was taken into
custody and charged with giving false
name, address or date of birth to a law
enforcement officer and three outstanding
warrant charges.
•suspicious person report on King Street;
Jordie Hayes, 29, of Stoneridge Drive,
Winder, was arrested on outstanding war
rant charges.
•entering auto on W. May Street; com
plainant reported seeing someone run from
her unlocked vehicle parked behind a busi
ness and following the subject to another
location. The complainant made contact
with the subject and he ran from the scene.
The subject, identified as Anthony Michael
Criswell, 17, of Apperson Drive, Winder,
was apprehended and taken into custody
and charged with entering automobile with
intent to commit theft.
•warrant arrest on Lanthier Street;
Corderius J’Von Peak, 24, of Northridge
Lane, Winder, was taken into custody.
•theft by taking on Exchange Boulevard;
a white male at Turtle Creek Wine and
Spirits was observed hiding a bottle of Full
Throttle Moonshine in his jacket and leav
ing the store without paying.
•traffic stop for no insurance on N.
Broad Street; the driver was issued a cita
tion and the vehicle was towed.
•welfare check on Brookview Terrace;
Justin Baber, 24, of Hilldale Circle, Wind
er, was arrested for possession of a con
trolled substance and an outstanding war
rant charge.
•traffic stop for expired registration on E.
May Street; the driver was issued a citation
for possession of marijuana.
•traffic stop for speeding on Athens
Street; the driver, Antwan Randle, 22, of
Maxey Lane, Winder, was taken into cus
tody for driving on a suspended license and
speeding.
•assault report on Green Valley Drive;
complainant reported being driven to
another location and beat up and robbed
by three males.
•harassment on Rutledge Drive; a female
reported her ex-boyfriend continued to text
her.
•criminal trespass on Dreamland Court;
a mailbox was reported knocked down.
•violation of no contact bond on Rut
ledge Drive.
•dispute on May Street; a customer in the
parking lot of an auto supply store reported
a man attempting to repossess the vehicle
he was driving blocked his car and tried
to pull him out of the vehicle. The man
attempting to repossess the car was cited
for disorderly conduct.
•warrant arrest on Williamson Street;
Lamont Detor Jackson, 40, of Smith Mill
Road, Winder; was taken into custody.
•suspicious person on N. Center Street;
Stanley Hugh Ivy, Jr., 47, of Old Hog
Mountain Road, Hoschton, was arrested
for possession of a controlled substance,
driving on a suspended driver’ s license,
giving false name and date of birth to a
law enforcement officer and pills not in
original container.
•disturbance on 2nd Street; two males
were in a fight that resulted in the arrest of
Joshua Dwayne Mathis, 28, of 2nd Street,
Winder, on an outstanding warrant charge.

The GSP reports the

Church Road, Winder.
Jarillo was charged with

license.
