Newspaper Page TextPAGE 4B BARROW JOURNAL WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2016 PLAY BALL The Apalachee High School baseball team went through a preseason warm-up Saturday as the Diamond Cats hosted Union Grove High School. The Wildcats are hoping to qualify for the state playoffs for the first time in program history this season. While high school baseball is classified as a spring sport, the weather in recent days has been anything but spring-like with high temperatures in the 30s. Baseball games played at AHS are known for always feeling 20 degrees colder than the actual temperature. RECORD SETTER (Top) Apalachee High School senior Kamar Baldwin is congratulated by coach Kevin Morris last Friday night for all his record-setting accomplish ments on the basketball court. Earlier this season Baldwin became the all- time leading scorer in Barrow County history. Recently he became the all- time leading rebounder for AHS as well having the most steals and 3-point baskets. Going into this week’s Region 8-AAAAA tournament, Baldwin had 2,251 career points. He broke the 2,500 mark in a win against Discovery High School Friday night. Baldwin has been part of 79 career wins during his varsity career for the Wildcats. He is shown being congratulated by his teammates Friday following his most recent recognition.
