A native of Comer, he was the son of the late Earnest and Clara Dale Booth. Mr. Booth retired from Sears as an automotive manager and was the owner operator for 26 years of Colbert Oaks Furniture and the Highway 72 Flea Market. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Judy Witcher Booth; son, Randy (Sandra) Booth, Phil (Valer ie) Booth, and Greg (Jessica) Booth; grandchildren, Maranda (Kendall) Stovall, Marlaina (Dillon) Anthony, Ben Booth, Savannah Booth, Jaycob Booth, Levi Booth, and Ryleigh Booth; and great-grandchildren, Ethan Stovall, Ella Stovall, Haley Anthony, and Caleb Anthony. Brock, 85, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. Huey was a baseball pitcher in his younger days and at one time pitched for the Chicago Cubs. He was a veteran and served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War, where he earned a good conduct and a national defense medal. Huey was a graduate of the Baptist Bible Col lege of Florida uuuuuu and received his S master’s degree there. He was a pastor for 61 years, serving the Lord in Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ruthie Alli- good Brock; a son, Ricky Brock; grandson, Nathan Brock; five broth ers, Earnest, Robert, Herbert, Ber nice, and Hollis Brock; and four sisters, Mattie Crook, Nancy Bogart, Sarah Smith wick, and Ruby Hurst. Survivors include his wife of 61 V2 years, Faye Brock, Winder; two grandchildren, Eric Brock, North Augusta, S.C., and Leslie Brock, Gainesville; and several nieces and nephews. Born in Maysville on Aug. 2, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Preston Wilson and Mon tine Caudell, both from the Banks County area. Jackie was retired from the Geor gia State Uni versity Sys tem, where she worked for 25 years. She was a loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend who touched count less hearts and lives in her 83 years. She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Law- renceville. Married in 1950, she is survived by her husband, W. (622) Chief Master Sergeant Charles Johnson COLBERT - Chief Master Ser geant Charles W. Johnson, 91, died Thursday, February 11, 2016, at his residence after a long illness. He was bom in Brady (McCull och County), Texas, on April 11, 1924, the son of the late Joseph Taylor and Stella Holley Johnson. Mr. Joseph Johnson was from Ver non, Ala. and Mrs. Stella Johnson was from Columbus, Miss. Charles attended Brookesmith High School, Brookesmith, Texas, where he met Ethel Joyce Mathews. They were high school sweethearts and graduat ed in 1941, then mar ried in 1942. The follow ing year he joined the United States Army Air Corps and served until his retirement in 1971. He served in WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, where he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal and the Bronze Star. During WWII, he complet ed 33 bombing missions in B17’s as top turret gunner. He received numerous other medals during his time in service for our country. He achieved the rating of Chief Master Sergeant. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe T. Johnson of Mason, Texas; two brothers, Lewis Johnson, Washing ton State, and Raymond T. Johnson, Grand Prairie, Texas; two sisters, Ila Mae Duncan, Mason, Texas, and Marie Barker, Brady, Texas; and one nephew, James R. Duncan, San Antonio, Texas. Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Ethel Joyce Johnson, Colbert; a son, Charles Gary Johnson (Ina), Ellijay, Ga.; daughter, Karen R. Born in Greene County, Ga. on August 22, 1936, he was the son of the late Edwin Harold and Mil dred Lundy Wagnon, and a retired minister and funeral director. Rev. Wagnon truly loved the Lord and good gospel singing. Over the course of his ministry, he pastored several churches throughout the state of Georgia. For over 50 years he worked in the funeral business, passionately serving families at their greatest time of loss. In 1975 Mr. Wagnon moved his family to Oglethorpe County, where he founded Ogletho rpe Chapel Funeral Home. His compassion for people and his exceptional work ethic made him the “best of the best,” a funeral director’s funeral director. Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, and friend, he was a member of Collier Baptist Church, where he loved everyone. Survivors include his wife, Carol Collins Wagnon; son and daughter- in-law, Keith and Paula Wagnon; granddaughter, Rachael (Cameron) Priest; grandson, Nathan (Crystal) Wagnon; six grandchildren, Mad eline, Amelia, Evelyn, and Sophia Priest and Christopher and Cody Wagnon; step-children, Connie (Wallace) Carter, Amanda Collins, Dixon (Elisa) Collins, and Jason (Melissa) Collins; seven step-grand- children, Helen and Leon Carter, Allen and Jennifer Reynolds, Jordon and Lindsey Collins, and Cole Col lins; and one great-granddaughter, Lexie Reynolds. Funeral services were held Thurs day, February 11, at Collier Baptist Church with the Rev. Eric Bunch officiating. Interment was at Siloam Cemetery in Siloam, Ga. February 17, 2016. (081-61.00) Anna Marie Whiting Anna Marie Whiting, 23, went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 26, 2016. Anna was the daughter of Eddie and Laurie Whiting, Jefferson; and John and Rhonda Shea, Ponce Inlet, Fla. Anna lived life to the fullest and was especially drawn to God’s awe some creation. Anna was adventur ous. She loved hiking in the moun tains and kayaking the waterways of Florida. Anna enjoyed church at Free Chapel Worship Center. Most importantly, Anna was a giver, her compassion for the hurting was sec ond to none. She could bring a smile to the most down and out face. She gave blood often at the Red Cross and was insistent on being an organ donor. She also loved animals and fostered many while helping to find good homes. S urvi- vors include a brother, Stephan Pitts, Frank lin, N.C.; brother- in-law and sister, Jamie and Holly Page, Char lotte, N.C.; step-brothers, Jarin and Brenan Owens, Jefferson; grandparents, Rick and Charlotte Skelton, Gills ville, and Wayne and Joan Whiting, Pendergrass; as well as a niece and nephew, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Celebration of life services were held Friday, Feb. 5, and Saturday, Feb. 6, at Living Word Worship Center in Jefferson. Speakers included Jeff Bridges, Jan James and Cronan Connell.
