The Apalachee High
School baseball team had
its chances Tuesday against
Social Circle in an ear-
ly-season non-region con
test, but in the end, the
Wildcats fell 4-2.
Social Circle took a 1-0
lead in the top of the first
inning on two singles and
a walk. The Redskins held
that advantage until the bot
tom of the fourth when AHS
pushed two runs across.
Greg Gillis drew a one-out
walk and then stole second.
Hayden Hubler then hit a
short grounder and reached
second after an errant throw
by SCHS.
Gillis managed to score
on the play.
Gunnar Wright then
drilled a double for a 2-1
lead. The Wildcats would
leave the bases loaded, how
ever.
Social Circle quickly
regained the lead with two
runs in the top of the fifth.
The Redskins added an
insurance run in the seventh.
AHS put two runners on
in the bottom of the sev
enth but could not get them
home.
Trace Clamp was the
starting pitcher for the Wild
cats Tuesday working 4.2
innings with three strike
outs.

CECE SIGNS
CeCe Green, seated, center, leaves a lasting impression on the Winder-
Barrow High School football record book. Green officially signed to com
pete for Georgia Military College in Milledgeville. Green was a two-time
Region Offensive Player of the Year. He rushed for 1,709 yards as a junior
and 1,305 yards as a senior despite missing two games due to an injury. He
shattered his own record for most rushing yards in a game with 345 yards
against Gainesville in 2015. He was joined by his parents, teammates,
coaches and WBHS principal Al Darby and athletic director Rob McFerrin
at the signing on Feb. 3.
JUNIUS SIGNS
Joey Junius, seated, third from left, is now set to continue his athletic and
academic careers at Presbyterian College. Junius, who openly admits he
has apirations of making it to the National Football League, helped turned
out the fortunes of the Winder-Barrow High School football program the
last two seasons by helping the Bulldoggs get back to the state playoffs
after a long drought. Junius had his official signing in front of a large
turnout of WBHS coaches, students, football players and supporters in
the fieldhouse. Junius recorded approximately 100 tackles in 2015. Coach
Heath Webb said more members of the Class of 2016 may sign to compete
at the collegiate level in future weeks.
