to record one out before
Stewart was called to stop
the damage.
BCA was not able to
rally. The Knights had a
two-out single by Clif
ford in the bottom of the
sixth inning but he was left
stranded. In the bottom of
the seventh, Whiting just
missed a homerun which
turned out to be a long
single. He also was left
stranded as the game ended
in a disappointing 4-3 loss
leaving Knight players and
coaches pondering “What
if?”
BCA earned a 6-4
non-region win against
fellow Class AAA school
Gatewood last Thursday in
Eatonton.
“It was a good all around
game,” Nicks said.
Tristen Green was the
starting pitcher going five
innings while allowing
four earned runs and seven
hits while striking out five.
“He pitched great,”
Nicks said. “He worked
the corners of the plate.”
Hopkins pitched the
final two innings for the
save and had four strike
outs.
“Caleb has been super
reliable this season in
relief,” Nicks said. “He is
a gamer.”
Offensively. Stewart was
3-for-4 with a double and
a homerun. Whiting added
another homer and two
RBI.
“Overall, it was a well
played game,” the BCA
coach said. “Gatewood is
a very good team so to get
a win down there is always
nice. I was really proud of
how the team competed in
each phase of the game.”
Two days before the
close contest with Gate-
wood, the Knights had
no trouble with Region
1-AAA foe Griffin Chris
tian, cruising to a 22-0 win
in four innings.
Tanner Still pitched a
complete game with five
strikeouts while giving up
just two hits.
“Tanner had a great fast
ball that located well,” his
coach said.
It was the second game
in a row where every play
er had at least one hit.
BCA had 19 hits, six of
those for extra bases.
Tallent led the way going
2-for-3 with two homers
and three RBI while Still
and Tuscano each had
three hits and combined
for seven RBI.
“I was very pleased with
how we played,” Nicks
said. “They took care of
business.”
