Barrom Special Olympics SPECIAL DAY FOR SPECIAL STUDENTS All participants were winners during the 2016 Barrow County Special Olympics. Leftover Pets offers discounts Leftover Pets offers low cost spay/neuter surgeries at the Winder clinic located at 610 Barrow Park Drive. April clinic days are Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Prices are $85 for female dogs over 25 lbs., $65 for female dogs up to 25 lbs., $55 for male dogs and female cats and $35 for male cats. A $5 discount will be given for any surgery patient no older than 5 months (as deter mined by Leftover Pets veterinarian). All surgery prices include a free rabies vaccination. There are no additional fees for in heat or pregnant animals. Financial assistance is available for any low income Barrow County resident. AHS Theatre to perform April 15-17 Apalachee Theatre presents Burrows, Weinstock, and Gilbert’s award-winning musical “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” based on the novel by Shepherd Mead. Performances will take place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, April 15, April 16, and April 17. On Friday and Saturday, showings will occur at 7:30 p.m. and at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door, and $7 for fine arts students. Tickets are available at the front office of AHS, through fine arts students, or by email ing the director Susan Pierce at: susan. pierce@barrow.kl2.ga.us. “In How to Succeed in Business With out Really Trying”, a young, aspiring business man named J. Pierpont Finch, (played by Jesse Moore) steps foot into the world of coffee breaks, angsty neph ews and knitting in secret, armed with his trusty survival guide “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.” Amidst this whirlwind, Finch meets a scheming young secretary. Rosemary Pilkington (played by Grace Gerely) and her sarcastic sidekick, Smitty (played by Grace Nelms) and a budding love story ensues. Set in the early 60’s, Finch nav igates the path to the top of the social ladder, avoiding the angry attempts of Bud Frump (played by Jeffrey Wyland). As in years past, there will be a live pit band of elite band students. In addition, we are all humming classics such as “New Rochelle ” “Coffee Break,” and “It’s Been a Long Day.” Fundraiser planned for Pup & Cat Co. A fundraiser to support the local rescue organization, Pup & Cat Co., is planned for Friday, April 22 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Carl House on Atlanta Highway in Auburn. The Canine-ival Daze event will include live and silent auctions, carnival games, gourmet carnival food stations including a Hot Diggity Dog Station, a Cotton Craving Cotton Candy Station and an I Love Pupcorn Station.
