Mr. Blalock was born in Commerce, the son of Terry Lawrence Blalock of Nicholson and the late Deborah Harkins Blalock. Mr. Blalock was preceded in death by his grand father, Fred Blalock; and a brother, Thomas Blalock. Jason was fully devot ed to the DeKalb County Fire Department, for 11 years, most recently assigned to station 24 and was known as “Mookie” to his Fellow Firefighters, was a member of the Creighton Mixed Martial Arts Academy, and was a wrestling coach at Collins Hill High School. Survivors in addition to his father include two sisters; Chris tina Crowe and her husband Charles, Commerce, Tabitha Wascher and her husband James, Jefferson; two grand mothers, Gertrude Blalock, Nicholson, and Elizabeth Eubanks, Jefferson. Jason was a devoted uncle to niece, Debra Crowe, and nephews, Bradly Crowe, Thomas Wascher, and William Wascher, and baby girl dog “Meeka” and loyal to many brother and sister Firefighters. (160) James Durham WINDER - James Michael Durham died unexpectedly on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at the age of 71. Mr. Dur ham was preceded in death by a brother, Charles; and sister, Doro thy. Michael was born on December 22, 1944, in Danville, Va. He ran a successful odor control business for 25 years in Florida before moving to Georgia. (875) June Marie Hall JEFFERSON - June Marie Lawrence Hall, 88, was called away by our great physi cian on April 25, 2016. Born in Patterson, N.J. on Janu ary 30, 1928, she was the daughter of Daniel Anthony Francis Law rence and Jessie Mae June Law rence. Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Walter Theron Hall; daughter Valerie Elizabeth Hall; sister Jessie Lawrence Morgan; and brother, Daniel Lawrence. Some of Mrs. Hall’s fond est memories are of her nurs ing career. June Hall received her nursing license from the State of New York on October 27,1949. She worked for the Veterans Administration as well as Emory University. After a career in nursing and raising her family, she retired to the coun try with her husband to raise cattle. She was a member of Galilee Christian Church. She enjoyed gardening and crafts including sewing, quilting, knit ting, crocheting and painting. (19077) Jeanne Hunt NEW BERN, N.C. - Jeanne Brown Hunt, 86, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016. Her two daughters, Cathy H. Curtis and Laine H. Warner, were by her side as she departed this earth to take her place beside her loving Lord. Jeanne was a member of Temple Baptist Church. In past years she taught Sunday school and was a member of several choirs. She was born on June 6, 1929, in Commerce, the daugh ter of the late Roy and Lilia Lord Brown. She moved to New Bern in the fall of 1979 to be near her daughter, Cathy, and in 1980 began her position as sales director for the Holiday Inn of New Bern until its closing and then she became market ing and promotions director for the Sheraton Hotel and Marina. New Bern became her first love and she was strongly committed to the development of tourism in the area. She belonged, at differ ent times, to many organiza tions and served on the boards of some 15 of these groups. Some of them were The Cra ven County Tourism Develop ment Authority, where she was a charter member and served two terms as chairman; Com mittee of 100; New Bern Area Chamber of Commerce; Exec utive Board of Eastern N.C. Chamber of Commerce; Swiss Bear Downtown Revitalization Corp; New Bern Preservation Foundation; All American City Committee; 125th Commemo rative Celebration of the Civil War Committee; 200th Anniver sary U.S. Coast Guard Celebra tion Committee; and numerous more. She was named Distinguish Woman of the Year in 1988 By the Craven County council on Women. She later accepted a position as Club Manager of the New Bern Elks Lodge, a position she held for nine years. Jeanne loved her family and friends, her pets, birds, gospel music, and New Bern. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and his wife Pat, and William Brown. Survivors include two daugh ters, Cathy Curtis and her hus band Louis (Chip), and Laine Warner and her husband Dalton (D.L.); three step-grandchil dren, Louis and Aleisha Curtis and Hannah Warner; and three great- grandchildren; one broth er, Paul Brown and his wife Kathryn, and Molly the wife of her brother William; and several nieces and nephews.
