Woman shows up for court intoxicated The Auburn Police Department reports the fol lowing recent activity: •request from the clerk of the city court to obtain a breath sample on an offender due to her being intoxicated on the last court date. As a result, Valerie Ann Newirth. 49, of Auburn, was taken to the Gwinnett County Jail and charged with contempt of court. Window tint violation leads to drug arrest The Statham Police Department conducted a recent traffic stop on Bethlehem Road for a window tint violation. After noticing a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, a search was conducted and two different types of pills were located that were not in the correct pre scription bottles. The driver, Stephanie Marie Garbutt, 29, of River Run Lane, Dacula, was taken into custody and charged with possession of dangerous drugs, drugs to be kept in original container and a window tint violation.
