Driver faces multiple charges after attempting to flee
An officer with the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office
reported conducting a speed enforcement check in the area
of Hwy. 82 and Ross Road.
He observed a blue sedan traveling at 80 miles per hour
in a 55 mph zone. The officer activated his emergency
lights and sirens to conduct a traffic stop. The driver of the
sedan continued on at rates of speed reaching, at one point,
triple digits.
Failing to stop at stop signs and striking another vehicle
as he turned onto Dooley Town Road from Atlanta High
way, the driver traveled down a ditch and through a fence
when he reached Thurmond Road.
The driver, identified as Rodney Lewis Moore, of Thur
mond Road, Statham, ran from the vehicle and was appre
hended shortly thereafter by the officer.
Moore was transported to the Barrow County Deten
tion Center and charged with fleeing/attempting to elude
a police officer (felony), two counts of speeding, driving
while license suspended, criminal damage to property, fail
ure to maintain lane, aggressive driving, reckless driving,
four counts of failure to stop at a stop sign, no insurance,
unregistered vehicle and concealing the identity of a vehi
cle.
OTHER
INCIDENTS
Other incidents reported by the BCSO include:
•vehicle parked at a stop sign on Maddox Road, Winder;
the vehicle had run out of gas.
•vehicle fire on Bankhead Highway, Winder; a Ford
work truck belonging to a Sprinklers Irrigation and Land
scape company was a complete loss and approximately
$6,000 in damage was reported to the landscaping in front
of Magbee Contractors.
•juvenile walking in roadway on Highway 211 at Duna-
hoo Road, Winder; the male was taken into custody and
charged with possession of marijuana and pedestrian under
the influence.
•harassment on Parker Road, Auburn; a male reported
receiving threatening texts from another male saying he
would come to his RV and “break his legs.”
•theft on Loganville Highway, Bethlehem; complainant
reported an athletic bag and equipment stolen from the bed
of his truck while parked at Publix.
•damage to property on Giles Road, Winder; a fence sus
tained damage from a vehicle running off the road.
•agency assist on Harrison Mill Road, Bethlehem; the
Georgia State Patrol requested officers assistance with a
traffic stop.
•entering auto on Satilla Drive, Winder; an Ipad and
keyboard case valued at $668 was reported taken from an
unlocked vehicle.
•fraud report on Austin Road, Winder; a debit card had
been charged $362.85 without the owner’s permission.
•theft on Jefferson Highway, Winder; a chain saw was
reported missing.
•shoplifting at Walmart on Atlanta Highway, Winder;
two black males left the store with a swimming pool and
did not pay for the item.
•harassment on Bridle Creek Drive, Bethlehem; com
plainant reported receiving harassing text messages and
calls from her boyfriend’s wife.
•traffic stop for a headlight violation on Beaver Dam
Road, Hoschton; the driver was taken into custody for
driving while unlicensed and headlight violation.
•violation of a family violence order on Daley Avenue,
Winder.
•found property on Bowman Mill Road, Winder; a gen
erator was located.
•damage to property on Vintage Way, Hoschton; a bullet
had been shot into the siding of a home.
•domestic disturbance on Highway 211, Winder; a
female reported that she and her husband had a verbal dis
pute and she was requesting that he leave the house.
•shoplifting at Walmart on Atlanta Highway, Winder; a
female was charged with taking items valued at $48.40.
•shoplifting at Walmart on Atlanta Highway, Winder;
two black females were charged with felony shoplifting for
taking clothing and merchandise valued at $671.55.
•domestic dispute on Austin Reynolds Road, Bethlehem;
a female reported going to a residence to meet the father of
her child who was supposed to help her move. When she
arrived, he and his father started to yell at her to leave. The
male at the residence requested a prohibited entry notice be
issued to the complainant.
•disorderly conduct on Carl Bethlehem Road, Bethle
hem; a manager of Applebee’s Restaurant reported two
males had gotten into a fight on the patio and requested one
be served with a notice of prohibited entry.
•theft by conversion on Old Lexington Road, Hoschton;
complainant reported paying a contractor for work done on
his home and the contractor failing to pay a vendor for sup
plies. The vendor was wanting to place a lien on his home.
•aggravated assault on Bowman Mill Road, Winder; a
female reported a male swinging a machete at her and hit
ting the driver’s side seat of her vehicle instead.

Man ‘bothering people’
at grocery store already
has outstanding warrant
The Winder Police Department responded to the fol
lowing recent incidents:
•suspicious person on N. Broad Street; a caller advised
that a black male was bothering people in the parking lot
of Ingles. An officer spoke with the male and took him
into custody for providing a false name to police officers
and an outstanding warrant charge for the State Board of
Pardons and Parole.
•traffic stop for an illegal cardboard tag on N. Broad
Street; a passenger in the vehicle was taken into custody
for an outstanding warrant and an obstruction charge.
•gas drive-off on E. May Street; a black male driving a
newer model white Jeep paid for $10 in gas and pumped
$45 in gas and drove away.
•damage to property on Monroe Highway; an employ
ee of Krystal reported damage to an awning caused by
young white males hanging off the awnings.
•felony theft by taking on McNeal Road; two trailers
containing motorcycles and equipment were reported
stolen.
•warrant arrest on Horton Street.
•battery/family violence on Ashwood Court; a female
was taken into custody for biting a male and burning him
with a cigarette while under the influence of heroin,
•welfare check on Box Circle.
•warrant arrest on N. Broad Street.
•suspicious person on N. Broad and May Streets;
a female was taken into custody for urban camping/
improper use of a public place and panhandling.
•financial transaction card fraud on W. May Street;
complainant reported unauthorized online purchases
being made on his Fidelity account.
•forgery on N. Broad Street; a female forged her name
on a closed bank account in an attempt to pay a debt at
an eye care office.
•warrant arrest on Dreamland Circle.
•traffic stop for failure to maintain lane on W. Candler
Street; the driver was place under arrest for possession
of marijuana.
•warrant arrest on Atlanta Avenue,
•suspicious male on Capitol Avenue; a black male was
charged with open container violation and littering.
