Bom in Barrow County, she was the daughter of the late Chamer Sylvester and Jodie IdaBell Casper Dillard. She was a retired seamstress from Carwood Manufacturing and was Christian. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Adel Manus; brother, M.B. Dillard; and a sister, Myrtleen Dillard-Villars. Survivors include a son, Emory "Sonny” Manus Sr.; daughter, Carolyn Barber, Winder; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 28 great-great- grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday, March 16, at Smith Memory Chapel with the Rev. William Whitfield offi ciating. Burial was in Chapel Church Cemetery. Bom on May 1, 1922, in Habersham County, he was the son of the late John and Essie McNabb Daniel. He was owner of a Shell gas station, and was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during World War n. Survivors include his wife, Fannie Jane Reynolds Daniel, Winder; daugh ters, Shelia Henningsen, Winder, Gail Kelch, Maysville; brothers, Reeves Daniel and Bobby Daniel, both of Homer; sister, Gwenlynn Braswell, Winder; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 18, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Rev. Allen Passmore officiating. Burial was in the Airline Baptist Church Cemetery. Bom in Barrow County, he was the son of Catherine Sorrells of Winder and the late William Cleo Sorrells. He was a member of Midway Christian Church, a 1966 graduate of Winder- Barrow High School, and was retired from the engineering department of the Georgia Department of Transportation. Survivors in addition to his mother, include his wife, Jackie C. Sorrells, Winder; a son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Jodi Sorrels, Winder; grand child, Caden Sorrells; brothers, William Sorrells and Tommy Sorrells, both of Winder; and sisters, Laveme Maddox, Carolyn Perkins, Faye Wiley, all of Winder. Bom in Walton County, he was the son of the late Tenie Hammond and Edith Merle Hill Baird. He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church, was a retired shipping clerk from Carwood Manufacturing, and also worked at Quality Foods Grocery. He was preceded in death by his wife, Chester Johnson Baird; a son, Charles Baird; brother, John Baird. Mr. Baird was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during World War II. Survivors include a special friend, Martha Hayes, Winder; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jerrye Baird, Macon; sister. Myrtle Hayes, Warner Robins; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held Saturday, March 15, at Barrow Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Doyle Sims officiating. The Braselton News, March 19,2008. Nesta Yingling Hoschton Nesta Robinson Yingling, 80, of Hoschton, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008. She was bom on February 14, 1928, in Baltimore, Md., was a member of the Hoschton Red Hat Society, a member of the Level Creek United Methodist Church in Suwanee, and attended the Hoschton United Methodist Church in Hoschton. She was a retired school bus driver for the Baltimore County School System, and was an avid reader and bingo player. Mrs. Yingling was pre Janette Vining Winder Janette Vining, 69, of Winder, died Friday, March 7, 2008. Bom in Kannapolis, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Elbert Parks (E.P.) and Stella Russell Greenway. She and her husband were owner/operator of Vigas Inc. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Winder, where she taught a Sunday School class and was a big worker in Church. She was a volun teer at Winder Barrow Middle School. Mrs. Vining was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Elijah Vining. Larry Purdy Commerce Larry Wayne Purdy, Sr., 56, of Commerce, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008. Bom in Fulton County on April 25, 1951, he was the son of Leonard Lee Purdy Sr. of Commerce and the late Vivian Clara Parker Purdy. Mr. Purdy was preceded in death by brothers, Richard Troy Purdy and Douglas Dwayne Purdy Sr. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Marine Corps in the Vietnam conflict. Survivors in addition to his father, include his wife, Barbara Gale Purdy, Commerce; daughter, Alicia Marie Purdy, Danielsville; sons, Edward John Purdy and Justin Glen Purdy, both of Commerce; brothers, Leonard Lee Purdy Jr., Commerce, and Johnny David Purdy, Winder; grandchildren, Alexis Marie Farist, Stormey Gabrielle Farist, Austin Terrell King and Brayden Jeffrey-Wayne King. Doris Wheeler Auburn Doris Eberhart Wheeler, 87, of Auburn, died Sunday, March 16, 2008. She was the daughter of the late Jesse F. and Oda Odell Henry Eberhart and was preceded in death by her hus band, James Lowell Wheeler. She was a member of the First Baptist Carl and attended Rolling Hills Baptist Church. She was a member of the Barrow County Cattle Women’s association and enjoyed cooking and playing bingo. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, according to loved ones. Survivors include daughters and sons- in-law, Shari and Roger Stover, Janis W. and Davis Gravely, all of Auburn; broth ers, Chester J. Eberhart and Brannon Eberhart, both of Winder; grandchil dren, Dara Stover, Drew Stover, Adria Whitworth and Caleb Gravely. He was bom on May 13, 1927, in Hall County, the son of the late Joseph A. and Susie Belle Martin Ewing. He was retired from Hall County Sanitation Department and was Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Beulah Lee Ewing, Flowery Branch; daugh ters and sons-in-law, Linda ad Dillard Hudgins, Carnesville, Barbara and Willard Roberts, Braselton, and Patricia and Tony Armour, Flowery Branch; son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Tori Ewing, Cumming; grandchildren, Greg Roberts, Nathan Hudgins, John Ewing and Jason Roberts; one great-grandson, Andrew Hudgins. Linda Coggins Flowery Branch Linda Loyce Sizemore Coggins, 65, of Flowery Branch, died Monday, March 10, 2008, at her residence, fol lowing a brief illness. She was bom in Hall County, the daughter of the late Lucious Sizemore and Verby Anderson Sizemore, She was a homemaker and loved to crochet, read and use her computer. Mrs. Coggins was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ralph Coggins; Jessie Coggins; and Amanda Coggins. Lee Waldrip Clermont Lee Waldrip, 89, died Monday, March 10, 2008, at his residence in Clermont. BomonApril 18,1918, he was the son of the late Dilmus Waldrip and Hassie Powers. He grew up in Gainesville, Hall County, and was one of the county's pioneer auctioneers and builders. He had remained active despite some heart problems and a recent accident in which he was run over by his tractor. Just last month he held an auction at his newest auction house in Cleveland. He founded Lee Waldrip Auction Company in 1947, and was a Georgia Hall of Fame auc tioneer. Survivors include his wife, Colleen Kelly Waldrip; a daughter, Linda Waldrip Rose; son and daughter-in- law, Jack and Violet Waldrip; step daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Troy Meek; and step-daughter, Kelly Teasley; brothers, Ramon Waldrip and Marvin Waldrip; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren Funeral services were held Thursday, March 13, at Memorial Park Funeral Home. She was a native of Mars Hill, N.C., and was a resident of Brevard, N.C. for over 53 years. She was retired from the Varners Drug Store after 19 years of service. Mrs. Merrill was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Homer J. Merrill. Survivors include a son and daugh- ter-in-law, Russell and Susan Merrill, Navarre, Fla.; daughters and sons- in-law, Teresa and Jeff Goodman, Maysville, Sharon and Vonell Wilson, Gainesville; grandson, Scott Merrill, Brevard, N.C. Covington Jefferson J.C. Covington, 93, of Jefferson, died Friday, March 14, 2008. He was bom on September 3,1914, in Jackson County, the son of the late Lee W. and Beulah Adams Covington. He was a carpenter, farmer, and a member of the Cave Springs Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Polly Marlow Covington, Jefferson; daughter, Linda Covington Coleman, Commerce; son, Danny Lee Covington, Jefferson; brother, Ralph Covington, Carnesville; three grand children; and three great-grandchildren.
