HCSO seizes guns, drugs during elder exploitation investigation A Gainesville man un der investigation for the financial exploitation of an elderly Hall County wom an has been charged with a long list of crimes, includ ing theft of funds from the victim, as well as weapons and narcotics offenses, ac cording to the Hall County Sheriff's Office. Dillion Ross Stowers, 28, was arrested Monday, Nov. 7, at his residence in the 4800 block of Hwy. 52. Hall County Sheriff’s Office investigators went to the residence as part of their investigation into the theft of more than $50,000 from the 82-year-old vic tim. When they arrived at the scene, they discov ered Stowers hiding in a closet. A further search of the property turned up 35 weapons, including one with an altered serial num ber. Stowers was also found in possession of 9.5 lbs. of processed marijuana, which investigators said had a street value of ap proximately $45,000. In vestigators also seized several THC vape cartridg es and a small quantity of Schedule IV drugs. Stowers faces the follow ing charges: •Exploitation of an elder ly person •Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (35 counts) •Criminal use of an arti cle with an altered ID mark •Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime •Felony possession of marijuana •Possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute •Possession of THC oil with the intent to distribute •Possession of Schedule IV drugs The suspect remains in the Hall County Jail with no bond. aK±r ,, iiiH. Expansion continued from 1A parking spaces for patients and visitors •expanding the pharmacy, laboratory, kitchen and oth er support spaces A Certificate of Need (CON) application has also been filed with the state to add more operating rooms to expand available surger ies and procedures. Addi tional expansion also in cludes the construction of an endovascular operating room for the performance of complex vascular and cardiac cases. Areas for care before and after surgery will also be expanded. “We began planning for the Braselton campus al most 20 years ago, working with community leaders who shared our vision for what this hospital could become” says Anthony Williamson, president of NGMC Braselton. “This expansion is not only a re flection of the growth of the Braselton area, but also of our original plan to con tinue to add timely, com prehensive, much needed health-related services for the community.” The expansion is sched uled to begin in late Novem ber, with new patient care floors completed in sum mer 2025. OTHER BUSINESS In other business, the coun cil: •revised a condition applied to a rezoning last month for a boutique hotel on Davis St. The condition will now stipulate a minimum of 49 parking spaces for the building instead of a cap of 49 spaces. •approved updates to its five- year short-term work program and capital improvement el ement, both of which gained approval from the Northeast Georgia Regional Commis sion and the Georgia Depart ment of Community Affairs. •approved a change for an alcohol license holder for Kroger on Spout Springs Rd. Daniel Carious is the new license holder. •agreed to forward with a series of recommended changes to the town’s com prehensive plan it reviewed at its work session. The council will hold a Dec. 8 pub lic hearing over these changes, •met in closed session to dis cuss personnel but took no ac tion when returning to regular session.
