Hall County Tax Assessors Office returns to first floor of government center The Half County Tax Assessors Office has returned to their designated office space on the first floor of the Hall County Government Center as the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) renovation project nears completion. “County maintenance staff, MIS and contractors en sured minimal disruptions to service throughout this proj ect, however, we are excited to return to our original space, where the public is familiar with finding us and we func tion most effectively.” said Hall County Chief Appraiser Steve Watson. The new HVAC system is replacing an obsolete 25-year- old HVAC system, while also providing impressive energy savings for Hall County. The HVAC renovations included ceiling grid and tile replacements, new lighting and the modernization and renovation of the HVAC system. The $9.5 million dollar project was funded by SPLOST VIII and approved by the Hall County Board of Commissioners in January 2021. BRASELTON Braselton planners to hold annexation and rezoning hearing for three single family lots The Braselton Planning Commission will hold a public hear ing Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. over a rezoning request to allow the con struction of three single-family residences on 905 New Liberty Church Rd. The applicant seeks to annex and rezone 2.14 acres from A-2 in Jackson County to R-l (residential) for the project. The Braselton Town Council will hold a public hearing over the same request on Feb. 9 at 4:30 p.m. Both public hearings are scheduled for the Braselton Police and Municipal Court Building located at 5040 Hyw. 53. Braselton Town of Braselton starting volunteer program Braselton’s Community Development department is launching a new, volunteer work force to help with town events and welcome visitors. “We seek to recruit and train volunteers with talents and skills to help us plan and execute new events and proj ects throughout the town.” said director Amy Pinnell. Nicknamed the “Bee- Team,” volunteers will be assigned to welcome visi tors and help staff with event preparation and office tasks. An informational meeting is set for Tuesday, January 24 at 6:30 in the Civ ic Center located at 27 East Lake Dr. adjacent to the town's parking deck downtown. B-Team mem bers will be asked to com plete a brief application, attend an orientation and begin learning local his tory. 'BraseltonTec' to offer workshops for tech start-ups BraseltonTec — a private-public initiative between the Town of Braselton and the Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) at Georgia Tech — has launched its "spark sessions" in January. These workshops, held at the Braselton Civic Center, will provide information for start-up tech companies covering fundraising, cap-table formation, marketing strategy and a host of topics led by experts. The town has partnered with ATDC, which is a Georgia economic development organization funded by the state legislature and managed under the Georgia Tech Enter prise Innovation Institute. It is the oldest technology business accelerator in the U.S. and its graduating companies have raised over $3 billion in venture capital. "ATDC's mission is to develop a technology ecosystem that attracts technology companies, investors and the talent required to scale," according to a press release from the town. Ninth-annual Braselton Chocolate Walk set for Feb. 4 The ninth-annual Braselton Chocolate Walk will be held in downtown Braselton Feb. 4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. At each stop, walkers collect a chocolate snack from participating businesses. "Chocolate will come in many forms so grab a group of friends or plan a date with your sweetheart and enjoy some sweet treats while you shop," organizers said. Shops will be stamping each walker's map. Those with completed stamped maps will be eligible for a $100 Buy Local Braselton E-Gift Card drawing on Tuesday, Feb. 7. The E-gift card can be redeemed at 23 participating businesses in Braselton. Tickets are $15 each and are limited. Ticket holders must be 16 years or older. Hoschton History Harvest set for March 11 The City of Hoschton will host a "history harvest" on March 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hoschton Train Depotto digitize any old photographs, documents, letters, diaries and videos that Hoschton residents may have. "Don't let our history fade away," organizers said. The event is being sponsored by the Hoschton Downtown Development Authority. For more information, call 706-654-3034. Braselton Paddy's Day PathFest set for March 11 Braselton’s seventh-an nual Paddy's Day PathFest is scheduled for March 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Braselton LifePath. Festivities start with a golf cart PathParade followed by a Quest chal lenge. The parade will fea ture decorated golf carts, bicycles, scooters, skate boards, wagons and walking groups along the LifePath (sidewalk along Hwy. 211). It begins at Ace Hardware toward Monter rey Mexican Grill and ends at Primrose School. Judges will award the top best-decorated entries with prizes. The Paddy's Day Path- Quest is a race involving several businesses along the LifePath searching for clues to complete a quest challenge.
