Hall County leaders seek
community input for
comprehensive plan
Hall County is in Phase 2 of a two-phase process to update its
comprehensive plan, the document that serves as a road map for
growth and development, and is seeking the public’s input as it
moves forward.
“The goal is for this long-term plan to be developed by and for
the community, and we want to make sure every voice is heard
throughout the process.” Randi Doveton, director of Hall County
Planning and Development, said in a press release.
The public engagement process for Phase 2 began with a vir
tual kick-off meeting on Nov. 14 on Zoom. A recording is avail
able on the plan’s website: https://tsw.mysocialpinpoint.com/

Hall County is in the process of collecting community input
through online activities, including a mapping activity, commu

GWINNETT CO.
Gwinnett County opens
registration for
community garden plots
Gardeners of all skill levels are invited to apply for the 2023-
2024 growing year at Gwinnett’s 10 community gardens.
The cost is $35 per year for a 4-foot by 8-foot raised platform
garden plot. Once payment is received, plots are assigned on a
first-come, first-served basis.
Gwinnett County provides water, tools, soil, mulch and edu
cational resources at each site, while gardeners are responsible
for maintaining and harvesting their plots. Gardeners must also
participate in 12 hours of community service per year to main
tain common areas.
“Cultivating these sustainable gardens continues to yield fan
tastic results,” said Brad Livesay, program coordinator for Live
Healthy Gwinnett. “Not only do the gardens provide a hands-
on opportunity for families to grow their own fresh produce, but
with the shared rows, they’re also helping to close the meal gap
for residents facing food insecurity.”
Live Healthy Gwinnett offers an array of gardening programs
for all ages and abilities, ranging from Gardening 101 to Pest
Management through its Harvest Gwinnett initiative.
