Retha Hardigree Adams
GRACEVILLE, FLORIDA — Retha Hardigree Adams, 86,
Graceville, Florida, formerly of Winder, passed away Saturday, Jan
uary 21, 2023.
Mrs. Adams was preceded in
death by her first husband, John
W, Hardigree; daughter, Janice
Johnson; son, Larry Hardigree;
and a number of brothers and
sisters.
Mrs. Adams was a retired
seamstress and was a longtime
member of Cornerstone Chris
tian Church of Statham.
Surviving are husband, Clint
Adams, Sr., Graceville, Florida;
children, Edward Hardigree,
Texas, Royce Hardigree, Bethle
hem, David Hardigree, Coving
ton, James Hardigree, Statham,
Richard Hardigree, Monroe, Johnny Hardigree, Hawaii, Cindy Bea
sley and George Adams, both of Panama City, Florida, Clint Adams
Jr., Lawrenceville, Mary Prescott, Graceville, Florida, Alan Adams,
Vero Beach, Florida, and Tracy Salcedo, Evergreen, Colorado; two
sisters, Martha Jean Davis, Bogart, and Mattie Brown, Conyers; a
host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grand-
children.
Funeral service: Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at 1 p.m. from the
chapel of Carter Funeral Home with the Rev. Hal Tapp officiating.
Interment will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
Family to receive friends: Monday, January 23,2023, from 6 until
8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ronald Phillip Blackstock Sr.
AUBURN — Ronald Phillip Blackstock Sr., Auburn, passed
away on Monday, December 12, 2022, at his residence.
He was bom December 6,
1960 in Winder, was a lifelong
resident of Barrow County and
was a member of the 1978 grad
uating class of Winder-Barrow
High School.
Mr. Blackstock was preced
ed in death by his father, Duri-
el Blackstock; and his brother,
Michael Blackstock. He was of
the Methodist denomination and
was a self employed contractor.
Surviving are wife, Miriam
Blackstock; sons and daughters-
in-law, Elbert Duriel “Dm” and
Brittany Blackstock and Ronald
Phillip Jr. and Tania Blackstock; mother, Mary Blackstock; five
granddaughters, Madisyn, Tiffani, Miriam, Ada and Stormie Black-
stock; two sisters, Jennifer Lee and Rena Blackstock,; and brother,
David Blackstock.
Funeral service: Thursday, December 15, 2022, at 11 a.m. from
the chapel of Carter Funeral Home with the Rev. Alissa Rothschild
and Joe Allen officiating. Interment will be in the Auburn City Cem
etery.

Betty Cobb Cooper
HAMPTON — Betty Cobb Cooper, 87, Hampton, passed away
peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, January 17, 2023.
Betty was bom on April 2,
1935, in Ware Shoals, South
Carolina, a daughter to the late
Louie and Rose Cobb. Mrs.
Cooper retired from Public
Storage after over two decades
of faithful service, and she
attended church regularly in
Hampton.
In addition to her parents,
Betty is preceded in death by
her husband, Daniel Lankford
Sr.; daughter, Lynn Cooper
Kunkel; and she was a sweet
sister to Maddy Jean Crawford,
Barbara McCurry, Alice Hanks;
and her brothers, William (Billy) Cobb, Hascal Cobb, Marshall
Cobb, Tom Cobb, Raymond Cobb and Calvin Cobb who all pre
ceded her in death.
She is survived by her sons, Samuel Cooper, Powder Springs, and
Shane and Tonia Cooper, Jefferson; grandchildren, Rheannon and
Samuel Cooper III, Kayla and Loren McGee, Abby and Savannah
Cooper, Carmen and Clay Cunningham, Christi and Shawn Harris,
Frank R Kunkel III, and Carly and Josh Elrod; great-grandchildren,
Michael, Chandler, Cydney, Caitlynn, Conner, Calee, Carter, Zack
and Kelsey; her brother, Ty Cobb, South Carolina; and many nieces
and nephews also survive.
Funeral service: Friday, January 27, 2023, at 1 p.m. in the Me
morial Park Braselton Funeral Home with Steve Ingram officiating.

This extraordinary woman was an absolute joy to everyone that
crossed her path. We all have peace in knowing that Betty (Gran)

Betty Ann Meadow Crumley
COLBERT — Betty Ann Meadow Crumley, 94, Colbert and
Comer, died in the early hours of Monday, January 23, 2023.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Madison County. She
was bom the fifth child of the late Griff and Maude Lee Smith
Meadow at the Meadow-Brace home place in the Meadow com
munity. She was the widow of John A. Crumley and was preceded
in death by siblings Grover, Helen, Mabel, Margaret and June. She
was the last of her immediate family.
For many years, Mrs. Crumley was the bookkeeper for the Col
bert and Ila Manufacturing Companies. Mrs. Crumley was an ac
complished seamstress, an award-winning crafter of counted cross-
stitch paintings, an avid reader and maker of utilitarian hand-sewn
quilts. She was also a gardener of flowers, greenery and vegetables.
She enjoyed nothing better than having her hands and bare toes in
the dirt or being on her mower cutting her lawn.
Mrs. Crumley is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law,
Christine and Bobby Brown, and Renee and Freddie Blakey; sis-
ters-in-law Lois Scaffe and Barbara Powell; numerous nieces and
nephews; and their children and grandchildren.

tience they showed our mother

Richard James Gilmore
BETHLEHEM — Richard James Gilmore, 77, Bethlehem
passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2023.
Mr. Gilmore was bom De
cember 14, 1945 in the Bronx,
New York, to the late How
ard Stephen and Grace Halpin
Gilmore, Richard was an avid
fisherman, a skilled pool player
and loved to be at the lake. He
was always dressed to the nines.
Richard was a 12-year Veteran
of the United States Marine
Cotps and enjoyed a 32-year ca
reer at General Motors. He was
a great father and uncle.
In addition to his parents,
Richard Gilmore is preceded
in death by his wife, Sharon K.
Gilmore; and sister Georgianna Rogalewski.
Richard is survived by his ex-wife, Marianne K. Gilmore; his
children, Jennifer Gilmore, Christine (Michael) Maner, Anne-Ma
rie (Shannon Pope) Gilmore, Chris (Michelle) Cargile, Victoria
(Brian Gordon) Gilmore and Christina Galasso; grandchildren,
Haley Rogers, Samuel Gilmore, Lauren Williams, Kaitlyn De-
Hayes, Jayme Arsenault, Brian Gordon Jr., Richard Pope, Jake
Gilmore, Benjamin Gordon, Brianna Gilmore, Zachery Gilmore,
Paul Pope, Cheryl Pope and Michael Gordon; great-grandchildren,
Isabella Rogers, Zander Smith, Christian Biggers and Zeus Smith;
and several nieces and nephews.

Joe Bob Ham
DACULA — Joe Bob Ham, 67, Dacula, passed away on Thurs
day, January 26, 2023.
Mr. Ham was born in Jack
sonville, Florida, a son to Sara
Ham of Newnan and the late
Harold Ham. Joe was a comput
er engineer and he was a large
contributor to the IBM commu
nity, leaving behind a career's
worth of trained engineers and
other professionals he helped
along the way. He was a lov
ing and devoted son, husband,
brother, father and grandfather.
He enjoyed stargazing, grilling,
bird watching and playing with
his grandchildren in his spare
time.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Ham, Dacula; daughter, Jessi
ca Gavrila and her husband John, Hoschton; son, Chris Ham, At
lanta; mother, Sara Ham, Newnan; grandchildren, Natalie Gavrila
and Adrian Gavrila; sister, Vanette Adamson and her husband Jim,
Sharpsburg; and brother, Jim Ham and his wife Kim, Moreland.
The family will hold a private, family only memorial service on
Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at 1 p.m. in the Memorial Park Bra
selton Funeral Home Chapel.

Peggy Ivey Holcombe
OAKWOOD — Peggy Ivey Holcombe, 76, Oakwood, passed
away Monday, January 23, 2023, following an extended illness.
Born on October 4, 1946 in
Pendergrass, she was the daugh
ter of the late Delma and Be
atrice Key Ivey. She was a 1964
graduate of North Gwinnett
High School. Peggy was retired
from The Home Depot and was
of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she
was preceded in death by her
sister, Marie Harrison.
Peggy is survived by her
daughter and son-in-law, Rhon
da and Stanley Phillips; grand
children, Josh Phillips, Pend
ergrass, and Jacob Phillips of
Atlanta; brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard and Vicky Ivey, Bra
selton, and Terry and Debbie Ivey, Auburn; brother-in-law, David
Harrison, Oakwood; and a number of other loving relatives.
She was cremated and no services are scheduled at this time.

Stephen Anthony Mason
ATHENS — Stephen Anthony Mason, 79, Athens (South Jackson
community), entered rest Thursday, January 12, 2023.
Mr. Mason was born in Pitts
field, Mass., a son of the late
William R. and Dorothy Gig-
gliotti Mason. Mr. Mason was a
U.S. Navy Veteran, a member of
the Athens VFW and was retired
front the University of Georgia as
a supervisor with the Electrical
Maintenance Shop.
In addition to his parents, Mr.
Mason is preceded by a brother,
William R. Mason Jr.
Survivors include his wife,
Patricia Gail Cioffi Mason, Ath
ens; son, Nathan Mason, Athens;
daughters, Theresa Jones (Don
ald), Danielsville, Kristin Mason,
Athens, Robin Mason, Danielsville, Stephanie Mason, Jefferson, and
Jennifer Mason, Athens; sister, Barbara Boden, Clemmons, N.C.; 13
grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren also survive.

Karen Freeman Patrick
WINDER — Karen Freeman Patrick, 70, Winder, passed away
peacefully on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, surrounded by her loving
family.
Mrs. Patrick retired as an ed
ucator at Bramlett Elementa
ry School where she impacted
countless students’ lives. She
enjoyed traveling, camping and
spending time with her family.
Mrs. Patrick was affectionately
known as “Dang Dang” to those
who loved her most.
Mrs. Patrick was preceded in
death by her parents, Charles and
Lanelle Freeman.
Mrs. Patrick is survived by her
beloved husband of 51 years, Don
Patrick, Winder; children, Robyn
(Jimmy) Allen, Auburn, Valerie
(Adam) Maynard, Auburn, Ash
ley (Justin) Bailey, Winder, and Janna Patrick, Sandy Springs; sib
lings, Cindy (Bobby) Taylor, Blairsville, Kenneth (Peggy) Freeman,
Canton, and Cheryl (Jim) Dunn, Murphy, N.C.; grandchildren, Mack,
Hazel, Ava and Patrick Allen, Macy, Deacon, Dean, Mila and Max

tered rest Sunday, January 29, 2023.
Mr. Rizzo was bom in Dover,
New Jersey, the son of the late
Evelyn Soucie Porter. Mr. Rizzo
was a member of the First Baptist
Church of Jefferson and was re
tired from Parsippany Troy Hills
Township in New Jersey.

TALMO — Hazel B. Shuman, 84, Talmo entered heaven Saturday,
January 28, 2023, at her residence with her family by her side.
Hazel was bom in Talmo to the
late Lonnie and Sallie Mae Wat
son Bryant. She worked at CVS
as a cashier while becoming a
homemaker. She loved animals,
she loved watching the birds
on the bird feeders and enjoyed
time with her grandchildren. She
was a member of Central Bap
tist Church and was preceded in
death by her husband of 31 years,
Jesse Shuman; and 11 brothers
and sisters.
