dividing city into
council districts

Hoschton elected offi
cials may represent specif
ic geographical areas in the
city, shifting from the cur
rent at-large format used
forelections.
City leaders discussed
the change during their
Feb. 16 meeting, indicating
the majority of the council
favored splitting Hoschton
into three council districts
with two councilpersons
representing each district.
Dividing Hoschton into
council districts would
require state legislative ap
proval.
But councilman Tracy
Carswell said at Monday's
(Feb. 20) voting meeting

Chateau Elan case
The Georgia State Su
preme Court released an
opinion Tuesday (Feb. 21)
that vacated lower court
rulings in a legal battle
between Wheelock Street
Capital — owners of Cha
teau Elan — and a group
of homeowners.
Chateau Elan has
sought to redevelop a par-
3 golf course into residen
tial property in an issue
dates back to 2019 when
the company requested
a rezoning from the Bra
selton Town Council to
turn the course into town-
homes. But the homeown
ers contended they had
established an implied
easement requiring the
resort owner to keep the
course, which lies adja
cent to the Manor Homes
division.

GoFundMe campaign started
for Braselton hit-and-run victim
As the search for the driv
er responsible for hitting
a man last week on Spout
Springs Rd. continues, a
GoFundMe campaign has
been started for the victim.
Bryson Moore, 21, was
reportedly struck between
5:45-5:55 a.m. on Feb. 10
and was found in the inter
section of Spout Springs
Rd. and Thompson Mill Rd.
So far, donors have raised
over $8,000 for Moore.
According to Moore’s
aunt, who started the cam
paign, Moore was walking
to his job at Publix when
the driver struck him. A fire
fighter en route to work saw
Moore on the ground and
stopped to provide aid.
“My family cannot thank
this man enough, if not for
him if it could have been
so much worse,” Christina
Moore wrote on the Go
FundMe page. “Amazing
first responders arrived
and transported him to
Northeast Georgia Medical
Center, where he is. The
small amount of blood on
his brain is being moni
tored. We can’t fathom that
this driver that hit him this
morning is likely sitting at
home as though nothing
happened while Bryson is
