Wednesday, June 21, 2023 The Braselton News Page 5A Public Safety Braselton PD Large diesel spill reported at Braselton I-85 exit West Jackson Incidents Man says woman he met on social media sought $200 over ‘lewd’ photos Large amounts of diesel fuel reportedly spilled from a semi truck onto the 1-85 North exit ramp at Hwy. 53 in Braselton, shut ting down the two right lanes. According to a recent Braselton Police De partment report, all Bra selton units were need ed to assist with traffic control for approximate ly two hours as crews re moved the fuel from the roadway. The West Jackson Fire Department assist ed with the removal and cleanup. OTHER INCIDENTS Other recent incidents reported by Braselton police included: •domestic disturbance on Piedmont Ave. where a man reportedly argued with his wife after she discovered his sex toy. •criminal trespass on Zion Church Rd. where a homeless man re portedly banged on the windows of a medical office. The man told an officer he needed to use their phone. He was re portedly barred from the location. •multiple reports on Henderson Falls Way involving an intoxicated woman. The woman suf fers from alcoholism and depression, according to police. Following the string of incidents, a 10- 13 order was obtained for the woman, who was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. •theft on Franklin St. where a man told police he lost his wallet, which contained his credit cards, and said some one attempted to use the cards. •suspicious activity on Sparta Way where a man said someone attempted to break into his stor age unit. The man said he could not put his key into the lock and believes someone tried to pick the lock with a paper clip. The man gained access to the unit through storage site em ployees and reported no items in the units miss- JCSO Stolen firearm found at landfill Two firearms — one of which had been reported stolen — were recently found in the trash at the Jackson County landfill. Officers with the Jack- son County Sheriff’s Of fice reported the incident of recovered stolen prop erty on Landfill Dr. A Jackson County Cor rectional Institute (JCCI) inmate who was working at the landfill found two firearms in some trash. One of them had been re ported stolen out of Cobb County. mg. •traffic stop on 1-85 where a passenger was cited for possession of marijuana (less than one ounce), and the driver was ticketed for an ex pired tag. The passenger reportedly handed over a box containing marijua na after an officer men tioned an odor coming from the van and asked if the substance was in side the vehicle. ARRESTS Recent arrests report ed by Braselton police included: •Christopher Taylor Pennington, 32, 2 Fulton St., LaGrange — bench warrant. Police arrested Pennington after he was found lying on a side walk on Hwy. 124 and learned he had a warrant from the state board of pardons and paroles. •Joshua Ray Villeme, 25, 2372 Saint Kennedy Lane, Buford — hit-and- run, suspended/revoked driver’s license, failure to maintain lane, tire vi olation and driving too fast for conditions. Vil leme was arrested for allegedly hitting a util ity pole and damaging guide wires on Hwy. 124 and leaving the scene. He was arrested after his phone was reportedly found at the crash site. Villeme was also report edly covered in dirt and had injuries to his chin. •Marcus Emmanuel Holston, 35, 1658 Full er 23 Northwest, Wash ington, D.C. — speed ing and driving without a valid driver’s license. Holston was arrest ed during a traffic stop when an officer learned Holston did not have a valid driver’s license, according to the po lice report. The officer pulled over Holston for reportedly driving 70 mph in a 45-mph zone. A man who lives on Broad St. said a woman with whom he interacted on Instagram demanded S200 to withhold compromising photos and vid eo of him. According to a Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) report, the man said he sent photos and a video of himself in an act of “lewd behavior” to the female, who threatened to share the pictures with Ins family and friends if she didn’t receive the S200. The man reportedly had not sent the money and asked his friends to block the female’s account. No arrest was made due to lack of prob able cause. •stalking on Hwy. 53 at Ed- naville Rd. where a woman said her ex-boyfriend followed her in Iris vehicle and shuck her vehicle from behind. He said a buck driver shuck his vehicle’s passenger side mirror and continued driving south. Hie man was reportedly concerned that the buck driver was impaired or disbacted. •suspicious activity on Quail Run where a woman reported that two males stum bled on her front porch, rang her doorbell and left once they noticed her.
