Pro grams attending were Gilmer, Winder-Barrow, Putnam County, Habersham Central and James F. Byrnes out of South Carolina. “40-plus ladies got better today. One of Winder-Barrow High School’s most dec orated athletes made his Major League debut this week. Brady House was called up to the Washington Na tionals on Monday (June 16), going O-for-3 against Colorado before respond ing with a 2-for-4 night at the plate with an RBI on Tuesday (June 17). “I don’t think I know what it means right now because I’ve dreamed about it since I started playing baseball,” the 22-year-old House told MLB.com after his June 16 debut. “To finally be able to make my debut, it’s an amazing feeling.” The 6-foot-4, 208-pounder was the Na tionals’ No. 11 overall pick in 2021 out of Wind er-Barrow. A group of family and friends joined House in Washington on Monday for his debut. “I don’t know if I could imagine as great of a day as I had,” House told MLB.com. "... I’m so thankful that the 10 people who are here tonight, that they dropped what they were doing to come here. I’m very thankful that they care that much to do that.” A shortstop in high school for the Bulldoggs from 2018-2021, House saw action at third base on Monday. The first play of the game went to House as he cleanly fielded a ground ball off the bat of Colorado’s Jordan Beck. House’s promotion came after hitting .304 and 13 home runs in 65 games with the Class AAA Roch ester Red Wings. He’s batted .280 over five mi nor league seasons with 51 home runs and 197 RBIs. He hit a career-high 19 home runs in 2024 be tween Rochester and Har risburg. House was a force during his time at Wind er-Barrow. As a senior, House hit .549 with a .677 on-base percentage, 1.644 OPS, eight homers, 14 doubles and 20 RBIs out of the leadoff spot in 31 games. House becomes the sec ond former Bulldogg to reach the Majors in recent years. Travis Demeritte, a first-round pick by the Texas Rangers, played two seasons with Detroit (2019-2020) and one with Atlanta (2022).
