Sixty-one graduates of The
Infantry School - Academic
Regiment’s first non-commis
sioned officers course have
been transferred to Camp
Chaffee, Ark., and have al
ready taken up their new du
ties with the 174th 'lnfantry
under the policy of rotation of
troops, it was announced by
headquarters today. Almost all
of the graduates who completed
the 30-day refresher course last
Thursday morning have now
been reassigned to units destined
for overseas service.
Although it was known both
at headquarters and at the
School as early as last week that
Maj. Marvin W Jared, regimen
tal executive officer, would take
the 61 men to Camp Chaffee the
day after their graduation, pub
lic announcement could not be
made until the troop movement
had been completed.
The mass transfer of Academ
ics, including ratings from tech
nical sergeant down, was effec

conditions for the men concern
ed. Each non-com had just fin
ished a month of intensive train
ing probally unequaled in any
non-com school in the Army,
since the Academic Regiment
men have been privileged to
take a course largely parallel to
that given to officer candidate
classes at The Infantry School.
SECOND CLASS STARTS
The second class, consisting of
approximately 125 men from
Companies A to E, moved in to
F Company as soon as the first
group had been transferred and
started the course on Monday,
April 10th
The brief military graduation
of the first class took place in
the F Company, Harmony
Church area in an atmosphere
of warm professional pride last
Thursday. The morning was
bright and bracing cool and the
ranks were bristling with health
when Ist Sgt. Oliver L. Green,
topkick of the casual F Com
pany, saluted the major and the
compamy officers and reported:
“The detail is formed, sir.”
