PAGE SIX Wolves Push Over Six Runs In Ninth To Beat Profs 8-2 Bob Taylor's three run homer climaxed a wild ninth inning as the Ist STK Wolves strengthened their iwld on first place in the TIS League with a well earned 8-2 victory over the Profs before a near capacity crowd at Gowdy Field Monday night A total of six runs had scam pered across the plate in that fatal last inning before Bob Mon tag, up for his second time, forc ed Gallivan at second ending the agony Up until then, lanky Rudy Rundus and Jim Prendergast turd hooked up in a hurlers' duel with neither team holding any real advantage. But in the top of the ninth Montag led off with a long double into the left field corner. Charley Bamberger drove a screaming single to left center scoring Montag with the run that was to prove enough for the victory Prendergast bunted and when Rundus threw late to sec ond in a vain attempt to catch the speedy Bamberger, all hands were safe. Ticco smashed a scorcher past the outstretched glove of Lehner at first scoring Bamby and when Prasse let the ball roll through his legs, Pren dergast also scored and Ticco roared into third. McCluskey walked and Taylor put on the finishing touch with his mighty drive over the right field wail Both hurlers pitched scoreless ball for the first five innings but in the sixth the Wolves got a single tally when Rundus hit a batsman and walked three others. Prasse’s single to left in the Prof half of the inning scoring Zitsntara squared the game but it was a short lived tie as Mon tag’s single, Prasse’s first error and Prendergast’s clinch hit in the lucky seventh gave the Wolv es back their advantage. In the eighth Niebler tied up the game with a 350 foot blast over the left field wall and then came the deluge.—B L.
