6587 Semi-Princesse Dress for Misses
and Small Women, 14, 16 and 18 years.
SEMI-PRINCESSE Dll ESS FOR
MISSES ANDSMALL WOMEN,
6587.
"WITH OR WITHOUT CHEMISETTE, WITH
THREE QUARTER, SHORT OR LONG
SLEEVES.
The semi-princesse dress is always
a graceful one, and it will be exten
sively worn’ throughout the spring and
summer. This one includes exceptionally
graceful and becoming lines and is design
ed for misses and the small women who
find such models especially well suited to
their needs. In the illustration it is made
of one of the new foulards with a chemi
sette of all-over lace. But the same mod
el would be charming made from pongee
or from any similar silk material, and it
makes an admirable design for linen and
fabrics of that sort, while it would be very
dainty made of batiste, lawn, or one of the
newer cotton foulards, or any pretty inex
pensive wash fabric. As it can be made
either high at the neck or without the
chemisette and with three styles of sleeves,
it suits evening, afternoon and morning
occasions equally well, difference being
found in the material, not in the design.
As shown in the small view, it would be
charming made of crepe de Chine or of a
light colored silk voile, as shown in the
back view it would be charming made of
linen or light weight serge for immediate
wear, while as illustrated it takes an inter
mediate place.
The dress is made with the panel at the
front which extends from skirt to waist
portion, and with the blouse and the gored
skirt that are joined beneath the belt. The
skirt is laid in plaits and the closing is
made invisibly at the back. The chem
isette is separate and attached at the neck
edge. Whatever the length of the sleeves
they are cut in one piece each. The three
quarter ones are gathered into cuffs, but
the short s’eeves are left free at their low
er edges, and the long sleeves are of the
{>lain fitted sort, but include tucks that re
ieve them of severity.
The quantity of material required for
the medium size (16 y-arr) is 11 yards 24
or 27, 7j yards 32, or 6 yards 41 inches
wide with 1} yards of 27 irch width for
banding, j yard 18 inches wide fur the
chemisette.
The pattern, 6587, is cut in 14, 16 and
18 year sizes, and will be mailed to any
address by the Fashion Department of
this magazine on receipt of ten cents.
MISSES’ SHIRT WAIST, 6583.
WITH OR WITHOUT DUTCH COLLAR, WITH
THREE QUARTER OR LONG SLEEVES.
Shirt waists that are made with tucks
on the shoulders, concealing the armhole
seams, are among the latest a* d best liked.
They mean breadth that is apt to be be
coming to girlish figures, and consequent
ly are certain to please the younger con
tingent. This one is pretty after a simple
fashion and will be found equally well
adapted to the separate waist and the
dress As illustrated it is admirab'e for
school and college wear and for the sum
mer dresses that are already in process of
making. Made with long sleeves and
worn with a separate high collar it be
comes somewhat more severe and tailored
in effect, and both styles are squally cor
rect, squally smart. Irnen, poplin, flan
nel and all similar goods make excellent
materials for immediate wear, but we also
make simple waists of this sort from ths
thinner lawns, batistes and similar fabrics.
Handkerchief lawn with hemstitched tucks
is especially dainty, and many girls like
thin materials with some little embroidery
on the box plaits and between the tucks,
or on Dutch collar and cuffs.
The waist is made with front and back
and includes one piece sleeves that can be
cut In three quarter length and gathered
into bands or made long with openings
finished with over-laps and straight cuffs,

in regulation style. Either the Dutch col
lar or neck-band can be joined to the neck
edge.
The quantity of material required for
the sixteen-year size is 3| yards 21 or 24,
2| yards 32, or 2 yards 44 inches wide.
The pattern, 6583, is cut in sizss for
misses of 14 and 16 years of age, and will

MISSES’ PRINCESSE PETTICOAT,
6569.
WITH OR WITHOUT TRILL AND TRIMMING.
Such undergarments as this one are
needed by every girl. It is dainty, attrac
tive and girlish, at the same time that it
is eminently practical. There is no bulk
over the hips or at the waist line, and the
flounce provides pretty fullness and fl*re
at the lower portion. Batiste, with band
ing and trimming of embroidery, makes
the one illustrated, but all the materials
that are used for underwear are appropri
ate. Dotted and cross-barred muslins are
liked by some girls, India silk is used be
neath the finer dresses, and simple plain
lawn and nainsook are equally desirable.
The petticoat can be made either trimmed
or plain, and consequently the same mod
el is adapted to the everyday frock and
to the one designed for party wear.

tion is cut with a front that is fitted by
means of darts, backs and side-backs. The
flounce is straight and joined to its lower

ROUND YOKE WAIST, 6567.
WITH LOW OB HIGH NICK, SHORT OB LOIO
SLEEVES.
The simple full waist made with the
round neck is always a charming one for
evening occasions. Tnis one is finished
with a flat shaped band that allows efiec
live use of embroidery or of applique and
is graceful in the extreme while it is abso
lutely simple. It can be made either with
the short sleeves illustrated or with sleeves
of three quarter length including two puffs,
or if the waist is wanted for daytime use
the yoke and deep cufis can be added,
making it high neck and with long sleeves.
All the pretty, soft, fashionable materials
are appropriate, but in the illustration rose
colored chiffon is finished with bands of
silk that are overlaid with applique of em
broidery.

and consists of front and backs. These last
are gathered and arranged ovjr the foun
dation and the shaped band finishes the
