MGTC adds barbering to program

Middle Georgia Technical
College has added Barbering
to its list of courses this
summer. MGTC has long
had a cosmetology program,
but now wants to cater to
more specific needs of the
area with a barbering pro
gram.
Tuesday of last week
marked the first day of class
es for the nine enrolled in the
school’s first ever quarter of
barbering. According to pro
gram chair of Cosmetology
and Barbering, Wanda
Webb, students will learn
theory, personal images, and
skin, scalp and hair theory
in their first semester.
The program is a total of
five quarters with the last

Man
charged
with
arson

arson in the early morning
fire Monday on McArthur
Boulevard.

was arson and a suspect was
observed leaving the rear of
the residence at the time of
the fire. There were no inju
ries during the incident and
the damage to the residence
was minimal, police said.
Pettis, 34, of 1440 Watson
Blvd., Warner Robins, was
located shortly after the
incident at his residence and
was arrested and charged
with one count of arson in
connection with the inci
dent. Police said Pettis was
also wanted in Michigan on
an outstanding warrant for
theft. He is being held at
the Houston County Jail
without bond.
