our most sincere congratulations tp
the players, coaches and families of
the Warner Robins American Little
League World Series Champions,”
says Mike Dyer, VP and General Man
ger of Cox Communications Middle
Georgia. “They have wonderfully rep
resented our community, state, region
and country and we were looking for
a special way to both thank and con
gratulate them. By working with our
contacts at ABC sports, we were able
to quickly coordinate this rebroadcast
of Sunday’s game so we can all re-live
the magic of last Sunday. We invite all
by winning the 2007 Little
League World Series, you
have made your families
proud, not to mention the
city of Warner Robins and
the entire state of Georgia.
You conducted yourselves
with class and let the rest of
the world know what we al
ready knew you are win
ners, on and off the field.
Out of 7,500 teams in the
Little League program this
year, you ended up on top. A
lot of the teams in the LLWS
thought they were better
than you, and they said so.
But they were wrong. You
didn’t back down from any
body. The team from Lub
bock, Tex., as talked a good
game. You played a better
one. Then you took on Ja
pan, the best of the interna
tional teams. It was a nail
biter, but you won. Now, you
are world champions. Let
me repeat: You are world
Middle Georgia fans to join us!”

champions. Sounds good,
doesn’t it?
Most of what I know about
you and your coaches I
learned from watching you
on television and from read
ing news reports. What I
observed was an extremely
talented team that was well
managed and well-coached.
Your hitting was superb, as
was your defense. Most of
all, you were a “team” in ev
ery sense of the word. There

teamwork, and you showed
it in spades.
Your manager Mickey Lay
deserves special praise be
cause he recognized that
what you were doing was
playing a game a very
special game but a game
nonetheless. He and his
coaches, Mike Smith, Mike

kept it fun, and that is what
a game is supposed to be:
fun. Whether you knew it or
not, they kept you loose, and
you play better when you
are loose than when you are
tense. Unfortunately, too
many managers and coaches
lose sight of that fact. Yours
didn’t, and that had a lot to
do with your success.
I hope you understand that
