Collections for the 2007
Georgia Hunters for the
Hungry (GHFTH) Program
will begin in September
2007. Last year, hunters in
Georgia contributed 28,819
pounds of venison to this
program (making a grand
total of nearly 200,000
pounds of venison donated
since the inception of the
program in 1993). This year
the program will celebrate an
historic milestone. GHFTH
will serve it’s one millionth
meal to needy Georgians
during the 2007 campaign!
All GHFTH sponsors

encourage your participation
this season!
Hunters can donate deer
in one of two ways - at
one of seven (7) weekend
drop-off collection sites that
will be available only on
Oct. 27-28, 2007 and from
Sept. 8, 2007 - Jan. 1. 2008

Hunters interested in
participating in GHFTH
should bring field-dressed
deer to any of the locations
listed. All hunters who donate
a deer during this collection
period will be entered into
a drawing for a deer rifle,
sponsored by the Georgia
Wildlife Federation.
GHFTH Sponsors are:

The drawing for the
rifle winner will be held
in February 2008 and the
winner’s name will be posted
on the Georgia Wildlife
Federation website.
STEP 1: Cut the Hook
Squish the fish's body down the hook
so that the wire's end will be recessed
inside the fish once cut. Cut with wire
cutters. Careful that the hook doesn't
fly off when you cut it.
STEP 2: Bead 0n...
Tie the thread through the hook's eye
on the head of the fish.
Bead as desired and tie the clasp to
the end. The clasp will hook securely
oround the thin part of the fish's tail.

No more than 10 may be antlerless and

of the 2 antlered deer must have at least 4
points, one inch or longer, on one side of
the antlers.
Antler Restricted Counties:
In Hancock, Harris, Meriwether,
Montgomery, Randolph, Talbot, and Troup
counties, only antlered bucks with at least 4

Hunting and Fishing Day?
Americans work to con
serve and improve our

anglers. The U.S. Congress
and President Nixon estab
lished National Hunting
and Fishing Day in 1971
to recognize these genera
tions of hunters and anglers
for the time and money,
more than a billion dollars
each year, they donate to
wildlife conservation pro
grams. Conserving the
states natural and wildlife
resources is one of the most
important responsibilities
for this and future gen
erations and the conserva
tion programs supported
and financed by Georgia
hunters and anglers have
benefited hundreds of
wildlife species, including
deer, wild turkeys, bald
eagles and songbirds for alt
Georgians to enjoy.

bucks with a minimum 15-inch outside
spread are legal
A permit is required to legally hunt deer
with dogs in the 41 counties where this
opportunity is allowed during the open
season in addition to a $5 deer-dog hunting
license.
* Firearms deer hunting is not allowed in
Clayton, Cobb, Dekalb, Fulton (north of
GA Hwy. 92), and that portion of Glynn
county lying within Jekyll Island. In the
portion of Forsyth county south of GA
Hwy. 20, only shotguns and muzzle
loaders may be used (no other firearms
allowed).
