TWENTY THOUSAND SUBSCRIBERS FOR THE GOLDEN AGE.
We want to begin now our campaign to carry the subscription list of THE GOLDEN AGE to Twenty Thousand in a few months. We are there
fore offering more liberal terms to agents than we have ever done before. With our issue of February 14 we completed the first year of our existence and
we have been supported in such a manner that we feel justified in giving better commissions to our agents than heretofore. Especially attractive offer
for student agents. Write for terms. Address THE GOLDEN AGE PUBLISHING CO., 510 Lowndes Bldg., Atlanta, Ga.
SUSPICIOUSLY HONEST.
“A man's enthusiastic friends often
times get carried away by their zeal
and speak unwitting truths of him,
especially if it’s in a hot political cam
paign,” said an old Democratic war
horse from Richmond, Va., in the lob
by of the National hotel.
“In a recent Democratic convention
held in our place, among the nomi
nations to be made was that of can
didate for county treasurer. The then
incumbent, who wanted to serve his
country for another term, was bitterly
opposed for renomination by a pow
erful faction of the party. This had
caused his friends to rally to his sup
port, and the result w T as the bitterest
contest that Henrico county had
known for years.
“When nominations for treasurer
were in order there rose from the
ranks of the official’s supporters a
budding young orator who proceeded
to paint in radiant colors the manifold
virtues of his candidate. He topped
it off in this manner:
“ ‘Our standard bearer in this bat
tle, our candidate for this office, was
triumphantly elected treasurer of old
Henrico two years ago, and since that
time has performed his duties and
handled the public cash with an in
tegrity and honesty that has been a
rebuke to his enemies and an aston
ishment to his friends.’
“The shouts of laughter that greeted
the unfortunate orator as he took his
seat sounded the death knell to all
his future eloquential aspirations and
the political hopes of his candidate.”

“Come to see all the sights, eh?”
said Citiman. “Well, you don’t want
to miss the big mirror in the lobby
of this hotel.”
“Do tell?” said Farmer Komtop;
somethin’ worth seen’, is it?”
“Yes, indeed. You won’t see all the
sights unless you take a look at some
thing like that.”
