The Wall Street Panic
J. 0. Bagwell, Pres’t Peachtree St. Atlanta
Last week the entire country was frightened for
a day by the failure of one of the largest banking
institutions in the city of New York. The people
were asking if it were possible that another finan
cial panic, like that of 1893, was upon us. Fortu
nately, it was only the result of Wall Street spec
ulation. The country is safe and sound, business is
good and prosperity continues. But this financial
flurry reminds us of a few things. It reminds us
that
The Time to Get Beady for a Panic is in Times of
Prosperity.
When everything is safe and sound, business good
and money easy is the time to lay by for a rainy
day. But there is a still more important lesson
for us. It is this:
The Untrained Man is the One Who Loses Out First.
It is true that whenever hard times come to a
country, the untrained are the first to lose their
positions. Business demands the very highest effi
ciency, the efficient employes—the ones who have
been scientifically trained and prepared—are the
ones who hold their positions, while the ones who
have not had this training are the ones who are
thrown out of employment. The time to get the
necessary training is during times of prosperity.
Bagwell Business College
is offering unusual opportunities for preparing young
men and young women for any commercial crisis

tical business transactions, in the art of properl)
conducting any and every business.

CHARTIER SHORTHAND
No one should take up the study of stenography
before investigating this wonderful system of short
hand. It can be learned in one-half the time re
quired for Graham, Pitman or Gregg, written much
faster and read quite as easily as if written in lang
hand. Students attain a speed of 100 words to 150
words per minute in from two to five months.
Because Chartier shorthand is so easy to learn
and can be mastered with so much less study than
is required for the systems, the student is
afforded ample time for typewriting practice and
the study of all the other practical branches, which
are absolutely necessary in order to become a high
grade stenographer. Students in this system are
able to write letters in shorthand the second day.
Remember that this is the only school in Atlanta
in which Chartier shorthand can be learned. We
have the exclusive right to teach it. Investigate the
system and be convinced of its wonderful merits.
Many students have given up Graham, Pitman and
Gregg after four or five months’ study, in order to
take up the Chartier system. Don’t make a mis
take, investigate and you will be a Chartier enthu
siast.
