A GIRL’S EXPERIENCE
How a Young Girl of De Kalb Managed
To Overcome a Trouble Which Threat
ened to Leave Her an Invalid for Life.
If you have a daughter, nearing, or
entering into, her womanhood, the fol
lowing letter will impress you:
DeKalb, HL, Jan. 2, 1906.
My Dear Friends:
I am very much pleased to sit down
and write you this letter, and let you
know how much I thank God, and you,
for the Wine of Cardui. It saved my
life. I will never be through praising
God for it.
I was very sick with a fever and
never got over it just right. I was
weak and hardly able to get around, and
for six months I was irregular. I was
getting wan and looked pale and white.
The best doctor in DeKalb gave me up,
and said I would not get well. Mamma
was almost craxy to think of it.
One ’afternoon a lady friend (Mrs.
Donaldson, now of Jonesboro, Ark.)
came to see me and told mamma to get
a bottle of Wino of Cardui.
Mamma went down that night and
got me a bottle. She had very little
hopes of its helping me, but, praise
God! I had taken just three bottles when
I was benefited, and began to get well
right off. Now I am feeling well.
Mamma wants me to send you my pic
ture and let you see how fat I am get
ting. I think I am doing well. I will
do all I can to let suffering people know
how much Wine of Cardui has done for
me.
Mamma and I art so thankful for
Wine of Cardui.
HAZEL UPSON.
Every girl who Is at all weak should
take Wine of Cardui at the time she
enters womanhood. It will build up her
strength and lay a good foundation for
health in after life.
Cardui regulates irregularities, re
lieves pain, builds up the female constitu
tion.

Epilepsy, Fits
Every part of the body has its
nerves. It’s the channel through
which energy —nerve force is
transmitted. If too much nerve
force goes to a part, it is irritated,
causing pain, congestion, spasms,
fits, epilepsy, etc. If not enough
it is enfeebled, and if none at all
paralysis results. Dr. Miles’
Nervine soothes the nerves, as
sists the nerve cells to generate
nerve force, and in this way re
stores nervous energy.
“My eighteen-year-old daughter had
fits for five years, as often as two and
three a week. She began to take
Dr. Miles’ Nervine, and she has not had
an attack for two months.”

tion is safe as long as the hand that
rocks the cradle is a hand consecrated
to God in the holy service of training
the young; a hand dominated by a
cultured Christian heart, and a train
ed mind. Yes, the masses of our peo
ple are earnest, intelligent, energetic,
God-fearing men and women, treasur
ing and transmitting the principles of
freedom and they will ever labor for
the growth and stability of our coun
try. How can our nation fall as long
as we have for a standard God and
the Right? And even all our principal
coins bear this motto: “In God we
trust.” And this motto, we believe,
will ever be retained, notwithstanding
the fact that some are arguing that
the people do not respect it as tney
should.
The Gospel or Mormonism.
There have been nom time to time
and may be even now, seeming perils.
One of which we will speak is Mor
monism. We admit it is a hideous,
caricature of the Christian religion.
It has its roots only in the ignorant,
and superstitious people ol the west
ern states. This people must be ele
vated and enlightened through the in
strumentality of the Christian school,
and the preaching of the Gospel. This
is being effected by the education com
missions and American Home Mission
ary Society. By the efforts of these
and the prayers of a God-serving peo
ple Mormonism can surely be uproot
ed. Another danger you say threatens
us, is the increasing tendency toward
a congestion of wealth. Who will not
agree with me that money is a great
power? It is a modern miracle worker,
it commands learning, skill, wisdom,
talent, and influence. Has not God
given us this matchless power that it
may be applied to the doing of His
work? And now that we are exposed
to the pampering influences of riches,
Christian principles must inspire us
with self-denial, for Christ’s sake, and
the world s sake, and so make our na
tion greater and stronger. And think
also of the perils of war. When the
Civil War lasted four long years, in
bloody strife, blighting and blasting as
it was, it only cemented her more
closely together. If this could not
destroy what peril need we fear? So
long as we sing, “My Country, ’Tis of
Thee,” so long will we live. These
perils have been detrimental to the
formation of sound government. Yet
the people have ever been able even
amid these, to hold the Ship of State
true to her course. Today we are
ready to say with Longfellow:
“Thou, too, sail on, O Ship of State;
Sail on, O Union, strong and great!
Humanity with all its fears,
With all the hopes of future years,
!s flanging breathless on thy fate.
Fear not each sudden sound and shock,
’Tis of the wave and not of rock,
’Tis but the flapping of the sail,
And not a rent made by the gale,
In spite of rocks and tempest’s roar,
In spite of false lights on the shore,
Sail on, nor fear to breast the sea,
Our hearts, our hopes, are all with
Thee,
Our hearts, our hopes, our prayers,
our tears,
Our faith triumphant o’er our fears,
Are all with Thee —are all with Thee.”
Love —keep it to yourself and you
will lose it; give it to another, and
you will keep it.
