he would greatly appreciate a pastor
ate that would support him, thus en
abling him to resume ministerial
work in which he delights. Though
he did not receive a collegiate degree,
he has, since he was a boy, been a
close student of both literature and
people and he could easily win in a
contest requiring a demonstration of
general practical knowledge with
many who possess this supposed es
sential to efficient service. Having
never enjoyed robust health, he would
like to change from the mountain
town in which he lives to the climate
of the Southern part of one of the Gulf
States, preferably Georgia or Alabama.
Small town or country churches
would not regret having procured his
services.
He could get recommendations
from some of the best known minis
ters in his State. He would receive

TOM LOCKHART’S LETTER.
Dear Household Editor:
Please allow me space to thank your
good readers for responding so nobly
to the invitation to my letter party
Christmas day? Two hundred cards
and letters came on that day, and
while half of them were cards, I en
joyed them all very much. I was well
remembered with orders for my
books, small gifts of money and
stamps, books, etc. The letters
and cards were very helpful and
encouraging, and I »-4hapk each
one of you with all my heart!
You have renewed my hope and
courage for the new year, and I
trust it will prove the happiest
and most prosperous that you have
yet enjoyed, and that God will be with
you and abundantly bless you all! I
filled all orders for books, but the
congested condition of the mails dur
ing the holidays doubtless caused
some of them to go astray. So I
stand ready to make it good if you
will only convince me that I received
your orders. I can not be responsible
for stamps and silver sent without
registering.
This card of thanks was purposely
delayed as I wanted to tell you of my
new book, “Cheerful Chats With Far-
Away Friends,” which will be ready
oy the time you read this. Some
time back I was employed by the edi
tor of a St. Louis daily to conduct a
department in his paper. The articles
I wrote at that time I am now bring
ing out in a neat book, the price of
which is fifty-three cents, the three
cents being to pay the postage on the
book when it is sent. If “Cheerful
Chats” is not quite ready when your
order reaches me, please be patient.
I will send the book as soon as I can.
Believing you will be glad to hear of
my good fortune, I desire to tell you
that a dear friend, away up in North
Dakota, sent me an Edison phono
graph and twenty-seven records.
Wasn’t that good and thoughtful of
her? The gift has given me great
pleasure. Again thanking sincerely
all the friends who remembered me
at Christmas, I am,
Gratefully,
TOM LOCKHART.
