EUGENE ANDERSON.
President Georgia-Alabama Business
College, Macon, Ga.
Mrs. Dr. J. M. Mason, of Macon,
writes: “Mr. Anderson holds a most
responsible position, and there could
certainly be no nobler work than
that in which he is engaged.”
Mr. Anderson says his motto is “Do
things right, first, last and all the
time.” He says he would rather
train a student properly without a
penny for tuition than to train him
improperly for spot cash.

‘Beginning of the Church*s Work
(Continued from Page Ttoo) I
is said that as the result of that pray
er-meeting they were all “filled with
the Holy Ghost.”
I wish to propound a pracitcal ques
tion or two. Do you feel that you have
ever been filled with the Holy Ghost?
You are a Christian man or woman;
you have been in the Church perhaps
a long time. If you were to die to
night, you would be saved, but have
you been filled with the Holy Spirit?
Has there ever been a time in. your
life when you bowed before God, the
Holy Ghost, and received Him by
faith? If not, I tell you you have
missed the greatest privilege that you
are due as a Christian; and what I
want you to see in this closing moment
is that your birthright as a Christian is
to be filled with the Holy Ghost.
But somebody may wish to know
how it is possible to know if they have
been filled with the Holy Ghost. It is
just as easy to know this as it is to
know that you are saved. First, there
must be a perfect surrender. Have
you ever knelt down before God and
said, “Lord Jesus, I surrender every
thing that may stand in the way of a
perfect filling of your Spirit. I give
my will over into His keeping. I will
go where He directs; I will be what
He wants me to be, and in order that
this may be possible, I want to be fill
ed with the Holy Spirit.” If you have
made that surrender, claim the prom
ise, for it is yours. You can know
whether that has taken place in your
life just as easily as you may know
TRIAL AND TRIUMPH I
(Continued Prom Page Lleben) I
came the thought, “Today is my wed
ding-day!”
She could not realize it. A sense of
the sudden change in her life, the feel
ing that she was cut loose from her
old ties, her old pursuits and ambi
tions, that the love which had been
hope and stimulus to her no longer
meant anything—all this rushed upon
her with a force that was overwhelm
ing.
But this woman was fortunate. She
had the wonderful elasticity of nature
that belongs to some human beings
and some plants. Fate would not find
it easy to crush Belle Boylan.
As she sat up in bed, with her hands
behind her head, letting the wave of
miserable recollection sweep over her,
she caught sight of her face in the
large mirror on the mantel-piece—her
lovely face, rising from the lace ruffles
of Sylvia’s daintiest and
looking out from a cloud of dark
bronze hair.
“I am beautiful!” she murmured, re
garding her image with a curious,
half-pitying tenderness. “Men every
where will admire me. This man who
wiL be my husband loved me at first
sight. He is sure to be my slave. I
shall be a queen here; I shall reign a
Lady Absolute. “No,” she broke off,
her face changing, “I shall not reign
absolute. There is that girl—Sylvia.
She will defy me. She dislikes me. I
felt that we were enemies the instant
we met. Well, it comes to this: one
of us must subjugate the other. It is
not I who will be conquered.”
She had risen, and was dressing
while these thoughts ran through her
mind. Her spirits rose as she listened
to the mocking-bird singing in wild, rol
licking joy outside.
She glanced out through the window.
The green fields stretched away, glist
ening with dew. A cottage or two
could be seen in the distance. Beyond,

that you have accepted Jesus Christ in
salvation. After that you will begin to
note the change in your life; your atti
tude toward things will change; you
will find yourself assuming the atti
tude of Christ toward everything; not
that you will be perfect, for the Spirit
life is not a perfect life, hut a life of
growth; an overcoming life. There is
nothing mysterious about it. You are
not directed to look for some stirring
experience, some physical thrill; you
are simply asked to open your heart
wide and let everything go that stands
in the way so that the Spirit of God
may enter in and take possession.
With this filling of the Spirit there
will come to you a new vision of life;
a new vision of the truth; the Bible
will stand out as a new and very pre
cious guide book; to find out His plan
and purpose for your life will be your
daily desire. Filled with the Spirit of
God you had rather know that you are
in His will than to have all the pleas
ures that the world can give; you had
rather be down in the valley giving
help to some poor needy soul, than on
the mountain-top of pleasure and ex
citement with which the world may al
lure you now. You can not assume
that attitude of yourself, but, surren
dered to the will of God, you will find
that your entire nature will change, so
that the things that you do not enjoy
and desire now, will be most precious
to you. Oh, that every Christian could
know the power that comes with the
surrendered life.
standing against the horizon, was the
green circle of woods, shutting in the
view, and running down on one side
to the Twin Lakes. This wealth of
woods and fields, extending from the
old Glenn homestead, which stood on
the outer verge of the new “summer
town,” belonged to Charley, her soon
to be husband.
No —there came in the hateful
thought of that girl again. A great,
perhaps the greater, part of these
lands belonged to Sylvia.
Anabel finished dressing, and went
down-stairs. Seeing no one, she made
her way outside, where she found the
old doctor busy with his hoe among
the flower-beds. He looked up as she
approached, and surveyed her with his
mild, gray eyes. When she came
nearer, he greeted her with stately,
old-fashioned courtesy.
“My son told me you were here. We
are very glad to have your company,
Miss Boylan,” he said, cordially. “Syl
via will enjoy your visit. She must
often find it lonely here, though she
never complains. My son is out a great
deal attending to business. He has
ridden to town already this morning.”
“He has gone to get a marriage li
cense,” thought Anabel.
She took up a pair of garden scis
sors and began to snip the dead blos
soms from a large rose tree. She chat

WOMAN’S BEAUTY
A woman’s beauty is dependent on
her health. To keep her beauty, she
must keep her health. Sickness and
suffering leave their trace, pain leaves
its marring imprint. Ladies have
come to realize that to be beautiful
and attrac ive they must give atten
tion to physical fitness and health.
Countless women suffer from ail
ments designated generally as “female
complaint,” thinking it is the natural
lot of their sex to suffer.
This is a mistaken belief. Nature
Invariably has a cure for her child
ren’s ills. Thousands of women have
found permanent relief for their suffer
ings by using that natural, herbal
medicine, —Wine of Cardui. Cardui
is a pure, non-intoxicating remedy,
specifically for women, wLlch has
grown steadily in favor during the past
fifty years. Letters pour in every day,
expressing the gratitude of the writ
ers, who have been relieved of their
misery and restored to health.
When you are nervous or sick, get
Cardui from your druggist, and try it

NOTE:—This House is Perfectly Reliable-
country life as she beheaded the faded
roses, making herself charming to him
as she well knew how to do.
After awhile he laid down the hoe
and asked her if she would not like to
look over the place.
As they started out Charley rode up
to the gate. Certainly he was a very
manly looking figure on horseback. He
rode with the easy grace of the true
Southron.
He looked pleased when he saw An
abel with his father.
“So you two have got acquainted,”
he said.
“Oh! we are quite good friends,” she
answered, laughing.
He gave his horse in charge of
“Jake” —a round-eyed little darkey—
and joined Anabel and his father in
their wa’k.
The old gentleman led the way to
the pride of his heart —his garden—a
big rambling inclosure, the fence cov
ered with purple-blossomed beans and
blue morning-glories, buzzed over by a
thousand bees.
Inside were vegetables, beds of yel
low and scarlet tomatoes, slim, green
cucumbers and crooked yellow
squashes, giving way presently to
grape-vines, rose bushes, and tall dah
lias and altheas, as the garden sloped
down to the stream at its foot.
On the other side of the stream was
a green pasture, where several newly
milked cows were grazing. A dairy,
