THE SECRET OF SUCCESS.
“What is your secret of success?”
asked a lady of Turner, the distin
guished painter. He replied, “I have
no secret, tnadam, but hard work.”
Says Dr. Arnold, “The difference be
tween one boy and another is not so
much in talent as in energy.”
“Nothing,” says Reynolds, “is de
nied well-directed labor, and nothing
is to be attained without it.”
“Excellency in any department,”
says Johnson, “can now be attained
only by the labor of a lifetime; it is
not to be purchased at a less price.”
“There is but one method,” said
Sydney Smith, “and that is hard
Be Sure You Are Right, Then Go
Ahead.
This is an excellent rule to follow
in all things, because when one knows
he is right, it is easy to go ahead; but
to go ahead, not knowing whether he
is right or wrong, frequently leads to
serious errors. In drinking Shivar’s
Mineral Water for indigestion, dys
pepsia, kidney and liver trouble, you
know you are right, and because Mr.
Shivar, proprietor of the Shivar
Spring, knows you are right, he makes
you the following liberal guarantee
offer:
Deposit $2.00 with the Shivar
Springs, for which they will ship you
two five-gallon demijohns of this cele
brated water, and if you do not re
ceive any benefit after using the ten
gallons, ship back the empty demi
johns, with your statement to this
effect, and your money will be re
funded —every cent of it. It is left
entirely with you. Mr. E. V. Finlay
son, Charlotte, N. C., says: “I have
suffered with indigestion for a long
time, but after drinking two demi
johns of this water, I can eat any
thing without bad effects. Your water
surpasses all remedies for stomach,
liver and kidney troubles.”
Get a trial order of this justly cele
brated water, and you will agree with
Mr. Finlayson. Address order to Mr.
N. F. Shivar, proprietor Shivar Spring,

LETTER FROM CALIFORNIA.
Under date of August 27, we have re
ceived the following letter from Mr. Eu
gene B. Moore, of Los Angeles, California,
concerning the property of the Gold Bul
lion Mines Company, of which he is the
secretary. We publish it here because
that a number of our readers took a good
deal of interest in this property when it
was advertised in these columns some
months ago. Any one interested in it
should write Mr. Moore, at No. 623 Lissner
Building, Los Angeles, Cal., who will be
glad to reply to any inquiries. The letter
follows:
To our Stockholders:
I am just back from a meeting of the
Directors of our company which was held
at Tucson, Arizona, Aug. 20-23, and feel
sure that you will appreciate a word from
me about the property.
The entire seven Directors attended the
meeting and visited the mines on the
23d inst., and looked over the property
carefully, and inspected the work being
done.
The work done to the present time has
been more in the nature x»f prospecting,
as it has been with a view to further lo
cating the ore-bodies and ascertaining
their extent and richness. Much ore has
been taken out, as nearly all the workings
have been in ore of varying values, but
the higher grade ore suitable for shipping
is found only in the veins, proper. Witn
a mill on the property this lower grade
ore would all be worked up, and the val
ues taken out; but it is not of sufficient
value to justify the wagon-haul and the

The Golden Age for September 22, 1910.
shipment to a mill. We must have our
own mill as soon as we are able to get
one, and then all this ore can be worked
up which is now being taken out. A small
mill would pay 'for itself in a very short
while, but some of our directors think we
are not ready for such a move yet.
The work that is now being done is
sinking a shaft almost vertical, and in
running drifts from it to distances as
much as 110 feet. A great deal of ore
has in this way been exposed, and some
of it of very fine value.
I visited the mines early in July also.
Having promised many ci our
ers that we would ship ore soon, I insist
ted on a small shipment, even of the low
er grade ore that was then being taken
out. It was done, and the Smelter at El
Paso reported values of $21.35 a ton,
sending their check to the treasurer of
this company on that basis. When you
remember that ore that will return a
value of only $3 a ton can be profitably
worked with a mill on the property, you
will see what profit there is in this grade,
of which there is so much. Yet we have
large bodies that are of much higher value
—just how large is what our Superintend
ent is now working to ascertain. We
have had many samples that have assay
ed SSO to $75 to the ton, and some that
have run far past the SIOO valuation. So
that it will appear plain to anyone that
this is a very valuable property, and will
prove to be such as it is developed.
The small commissary at the mines is
doing well, and proving a very profitable
part of the business in a small way. Ev
erything about the mines is looking well.
We have a large lot of lumber on the
ground for building the mill, and suffi
cient to case the working-shaft to a depth
of 100 feet when the same is begun, which
it will be in a few weeks. So that little
or no lumber will be necessary to be
added for either of these purposes, when
it is deemed best to begin them.
Our Board of Directors ordered that a
shipment of ore be made by the middle of
September, as an actual demonstration to
our stockholders, both present and pros
pective, as to what we actually have. It
is not deemed best to ship much ore, be
cause it costs more than sl2 a ton to get
it to the smelter, all of which would be
saved by the erection of our own mill, and
would in itself be a fine profit or return
of values from the ore. But we will
ship some average ore to show what we
actually have and what the smelter can
get out of it. I will send you a report on
the same-as soon as it is received, which
should be in about four weeks.
Our stock is now 50 cents a share, and
will be much higher in the very near fu
ture. I would be glad to have the names
of any friends who might take some stock
and help us in developing this property—
for this is like any other property: it re
quires money to get it to the producing
stage. This will not produce dividends
till it is gotten in shape to do so, no more
than would a farm yield interest on the
investment till it has been cleared up and
a crop made and sold; or a business block
in a city till it has been built and fur
nished, and the rents begun to accumu
late. But this property surely has great
values in it, and will as certainly yield
fine dividends on the investment as that
the necessary money is put into it to de
velop it, and it has wise and business
like management. Any one who will visit
the property and investigate the same will
agree that this is a correct statement of a
very plain and patent fact.
From now on I expect to send you in
formation every few weeks concerning
the progress of the work, if you would
like to have me do so. I would also be
glad to have you write me fully concern
ing anything about which you desire to
know. We have nothing to keep secret
in this matter from those who are inter
ested and have a right to know, as every
stockholder has.
Very truly yours,
E. B. MOORE, Secretary,
