Where little is really needed, there

One little mite, swift as the wind,
as graceful as a young deer, clad in a
single slip, followed our carriage for
miles, in the hope of receiving more
(and yet more) coins.
One day we mounted camels, and
took afternoon tea, off on the sand

queer-looking creatures there were,
too, whose acquaintance we did not
wish to cultivate.
Then there was the sand, soft and
warm —colored, and sweet smelling—
a perfect joy to “cuddle down” in, like
a soft lap, and forget everything, even
the fact that we could not stay al
ways!

knees to be mounted or loaded.
The driver, with a short stick, hits
the fore legs; and the snarl begins,
deepening with the touch on the hind
legs, and ending in a sneer that curls
up the upper lip as the animal finally
reaches the ground. If enraged, his
favorite revenge consists in sousing
