The Abomination Esau’s Last Great Ruler: GUNNING OF THE ™D BE
N this article we propose to show
you, conclusively, that the Abomi
nation rises among the Mohamme
dans, is their last great ruler, and
that his coming is through the
agency of Satan. And the purpose
of it is to command the forces of
the dragon in a final struggle be
tween Christianity and paganism,
* • -
good and evil, Jacob and Esau. With the result
that the latter shall be overcome, as seen in the
symbol of Rev. 12th, where the woman’s foot
rests upon the moon—that is, the Cross tri
umphs over the Crescent, with which the ban
ner of Islam is emblazoned. All this is accom
plished and terminated by the coming of Christ.
Now, then, in a matter so important we want
the Bible, and not any man’s speculative views,
and anybody’s opinion to the contrary is little
short of sacrilege. We call your attention to
this pointedly, because many have tried to fit
Nero, Napoleon and the Pope of Rome to this
character, without heeding other prophecies
that make them clearly impossible. But, with
out entering into a refutation of their fallacious
conceptions, entirely too long for this article,
we will show you who he is instead of who he
is not. If some fellow concludes the moon to
be a green cheese, it is his business to make good
his assumption, and not ours to disprove his
theory. However, should any one request it,
we engage to prove such an affirmation utterly
false. For the present let’s reduce this other
matter to mathematics.
In the foregoing dissertation, we identified
perfectly the Mohammedans with the “little
horn,” also with the “sea-beast” of Rev. 13th.
Keep this in mind, while we trace out the Abom
ination through various descriptions of him.
Now, Christ, in Mat. 24-15, in pointing out the
great tribulation to occur just before His arri
val on earth the second time, did so by the
Abomination and his standing in the holy place.
That we might understand what Abomination
He meant, He referred us to Daniel. So let’s
have Daniel byway of clearer identification.
In chapter 11-31 of his book, we find that the
one who takes away the “daily sacrifice,” shall
also “place the Abomination that’ maketh deso
late.” Turn next to chapter 8-11, and you are
told simply and plainly, that the “little horn”
should take away this sacrificial rate. Since
then the Mohammedans have been identified as
being the “little horn,” there is no escaping
the conclusion that they are the ones, who are
to be responsible for the Abomination. Again,
since he is to be set up 1290 days or years after
the taking of the “daily,” and that was taken
when Jerusalem fell to them in 637 A. D., as be
fore explained, then his appearance is sched
uled for 1927 A. D., days here signifying years,
as previously demonstrated.
Furthermore, for fear some one may declare
that we are teaching Christ’s return in 1927, we
will express!v state, that this date marks the
rise of the Abomination; and that the Saviour’s
coming follows “immediately after the tribula
tion,” this period of great bloodshed caused by
the Abomination, (Mat. 24-29. 30.) which lasts
something like 45 years. See Dan. 12-12. Here,
after signifying the time when we are to expect
the Abomination, (1290 days after taking the
“daily,”) the prophet savs. “Blessed is he that
waiteth and cometh to 1335 days.’’ That is 45
years later. Now. the Abomination inaugurates
the trouble, and Paul tolls us in 2 Thes. 2-8. that
Christ shall destrov him at His coming, which
brings peace, therefore the significance of
“blessed” shows a cessation of hostilities, and
also it marks the approximate time of our Mas
ter’s appearance. Fortv-five years later would
bring ns out at 1972. forty years later at 1967:
this latter date harmonizes with two other pas
sages of Scripture, one from Micah 7-15, where
he is writing on the second “visitation,” and

says, “According to the days of thy coming out
of the land of Egypt, we will show him (ene
my) marvellous things;” again in Dan. 8-13,
where one angel asks another, “How long shall
be this vision concerning the daily sacrifice,”
and is answered, “2,300, and then shall the
sanctuary be cleansed.” Look above and the
“vision” is seen to be the struggle between the
“ram and he-goat,” Darius and Alexander.
The great battle of Issus was fought by them in
333 B. C. Take then 333 from 2,300 days or
years, and you have 1967, exactly the same as
above; that is, if you add 40 years to 1927, to
allow for the duration of the strife caused by
the Abomination, you come out at its expiration
on the self-same date—l 967. This we give as
the approximate time, when we are to know by
the marvels then shown, in “sun, moon and
stars,’’ that the time is “even at our doors.”
And, since Christ Himself gave us these warn
ings, certainly He intended us to understand as
far as He saw fit to disclose.
Now, then, let’s learn something about this
character—this Abomination —and his mission.
The Saviour pointed him out standing in the
holy place, and Paul, in 2 Thes. 2-4, tells us,
what he is doing there, saying, “So that lie as
God sitteth in the temple of God, showing him
self that he is God.” Moreover, he says that
he “opposeth and exalteth himself above all
that is called God, or is worshipped.” We
learn, here, too, whence his coming and his au
thority, verse 9, “Whose coming is after the
working of Satan with all power, signs and ly
ing wonders.” Again we are told in verse 3,
that the day of Christ shall not come, until this
“man of sin” be revealed. Also, that a “fall
ing away first” (from the Church) shall be not
ed. Here is the explanation of the present
apathy and disregard of Church service, so
much complained of just now by the pulpit.
For his day is near.
We turn next to Revelation, and discover
there that a “second beast” followed the “sea
beast,” in chapter 13th. That he exercised the
same power, verse 12, whereas the “sea-beast”
was to hold his power seat and great authority
from the dragon—Satan. Which makes us be
lieve that he is the same monster just spoken of
by Paul. We shall see further along. Now we
found out this beast to be the “little horn,” or
Mohammedans; and from chapter 17-8, that he
had had a previous life, and shall ascend out
of the bottomless pit. Then, in verse 14, that
he shall make war on the Lamb. Whereas, in
Rev. 19-20, he comes to his end in battle against
the Saviour, is here styled the “false prophet”
and is cast into a “lake of fire.” Let’s put all
these things together. Since he is Mohamme
dan, is a “false prophet,” falls in arms against
Christ, has existed before, holds his power from
Satan, and ends in the “lake of fire,” as said of
the “little horn,” Dan. 7-11—“ in the burning
flame,” we conclude that it must be Mahomet
returned to earth. For Daniel tells us the dead
are to be raised at this time, chapter 12-2,
“some to everlasting life and some to shame
and everlasting contempt.” So it is, that this
character ascends from the bottomless. Then,
as to his rising against the Lamb, so also the
“little horn” in Dan. 8-25, “stands up against
the Prince of princes.” One thing, however, re
mains to be investigated—the “number of his
name.” This tells us who he is, and according
to John is written in wisdom. Therefore we
apprehend something puzzling. Let’s see. The
number of his name is given as 666. Now, John
was writing in Greek, the vehicle of all the New
Testament, and to the seven Greek Churches in
Asia, therefore he used the numerals corre
sponding to the letters of this alphabet. On
the supposition then that Mahomet was intend
ed, we will make application. But Mahomet,
thus spelled, is a French corruption, while there
are ]5 ways in all of spelling the name. Yet
three of these, according to Greek numerals run
out 666. Thus:
0
M O II O M M E T I—
-40 70 100 70 40 40 5 300 1—666
0
and
0
MAIIO U N D I
40 1 100 40 400 50 4 1—666
0
and Arabian way:
M U II A M M A D
40- 400 100 1 40 40 1 4—626
Now this last runs 626, but according to laws
of gematria, (an Hebrew cipher code), you can
add the value of the initial letter, therefore 40
to 626 makes 666. Since this is the Arabian
spelling and since John Specified as to “wis
dom,” we doubtless have the correct solution
in this rendition. All of which coincides with
what Mahomet himself is reported as having
said to his followers, “That, although he should
die, yet one of his family should be raised up,
who would restore Mohammedanism to its pris
tine glory.” And that which is significant, his
people are even now looking for a return of
their mahdi or savior. Now, we took note
above, in holding his power from Satan, that it
must be the one destroyed by Christ at His
coming, according to St. Paul, and here we find
him arrayed against and falling before the
Lamb; which makes us certain. Paul also ac
credits him with wonders, whereas in Rev. 13th
we are advised that he shall call down fire from
heaven and shall give life to an image of the
“sea- beast,” and make it talk. The verisimili
tude is too striking, not to be convincing.
In other words, the Abomination is to be the
most wonderful character, Christ excepted, ev
er given to the world. From John, in Rev. 13th,
we see that he will do miracles; from Paul in
2 Thes. that he will manifest “all power and
lying” wonders, even show himself in the tem
ple of God; from Dan. 11th, that his palace will
be erected at Jerusalem; from Isaiah 14th, un
der the head of Lucifer, that he will make the
“earth a wilderness;” from Ezek. 28th, under
the caption Prince of Tyre, that in wisdom and
beauty he was created perfect, being wiser than
Daniel; and from Paul, in 2 Thes. Dan. the Bth
chapter, Rev. the 19th, that he will oven con
tend with Christ, and fall before Him. Now,
this is Esau’s last great representative, and his
coming marks the beginning of the end. We do
well to heed the warning, for this was evident
ly Christ’s purpose in telling us not to be car
ried away with the vain signs and demonstra
tion of “false Christs” at this day, who should
do such wonderful things, that they would all
but deceive the elect.
HAVE THE BAPTISTS A FUTURE?
If we prove worthy of our trusts we have.
We Baptists ought to behave ourselves very
nicely, since so much has been entrusted to our
care.
1. A regenerate church membership.
2. A sanctified church membership.
3. As professed in our Baptism.
A common Brotherhood, in which there is
no ruling class, but the stronger serve the weak
er, to their edification and usefulness —lifting
up the fallen and caring for the feeble.
These are Baptist treasures committed to
them by their Lord and Master, to be kept, only
by dispensing them to all others as we have op
portunity. While we are faithful to our trusts
we shall have a place among God’s people. But
there is one more treasure committed to our
keeping more important than all the rest,
which we will mention next week and pray
God’s blessing upon all the readers of The
Golden Age. S. V. M.
