SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSON.
(Continued from Page 9.)
IL Be a Separate People. Vs. 8 to
16.
God called Israel to be a separate
people, but they refused the place of
separation and brought upon them
selves the evils which are recited in
these verses. God calls the Church
unto separation, and her refusal to
obey His call is proof of the ruin of
the Church. She looks to the arm
of flesh for help. (V. 11.) She is with
out heart and cowardly. She trans
gresses God’s word to follow the lies
of men. (Vs. 13 and 14.) The world
holds her in derision (Vs. 13 and 16).
Return unto God and He will receive
you and empower you.

THE GOLDEN AGE
AN EXAMPLE OF GRIT.
(Continued from Page 8.)
he suffered an accident that confined
him to his bed for seven years. Yet
this could not keep his mind and will
power down. In spite of bodily pain
he succeeded in getting a fair edu
cation, and began writing. As he grew
stronger in body he began lecturing,
although he had to speak from an in
valid chair. -Later he established the
“Golden Age” and is still its editor.
It has been almost sixteen years since
we first heard him lecture, and then,
as now, he was reaching out after
the young people, giving them a cheer
ful view of life and encouraging
them to shake off their impediments
and strive to reach the top. He has
had a message with a heavy import
and his own example as well as his
words afford a striking refutation of
the howl about a lack of opportun
ities. Yes, the world is still full of
opportunities, and the demand for re
liable and competent young people to
take responsible places is never fully
supplied. The whole matter may be
summed up in two words: “Get Busy.”
If Upshaw could make a place for
himself in the world even though fet
tered with a stricken body, why should
a young man in sound health talk
about there being no place for him?
