Tired? Nervous? Co To Your Doctor
All run down, easily tired, thin, pale, nervous? And do not know
what to take? Then go direct to your doctor. Ask his opinion
of Ayer’s non-alcoholic Sarsaparilla. No alcohol, no stimulation.
A blood purifier, a nerve tonic, a strong alterative, an aid to
digestion. Let your doctor decide.
MISS CRANE’S CHANCE.
(Continued from Page 3.)
How /long she sat there, soaring to
heaven one moment on the thought
of how much Powhattan Grey had
cared for her, and sinking to Hades
the next on the knowledge of the fact
that she would never see him again—
Miss Crane never knew —time seemed
to have been annihilated for her.
But at last she picked up the pa
pers on the center-table mechanical
ly, and she caught her breath with a
gasp as a letter addressed to her
self, fell out from among the legal
documents.
“It is only a suggestion,” she said
to herself softly, “as to how he would
like to have me use his money.”
But in her own heart Miss Crane
did not in the least desire to believe
it. She got up and pulled off her
turban. She had suddenly become
conscious of its weight, and laid it on
the piano; then she walked to the
window and stood looking into the
waning glory of the day, with unsee
ing eyes. After awhile she sat down
in a low rocking chair, and carefully
opened the envelope. The letter was
not long—and it read:

“My Dear Miss Crane:
“What your friendship has been to
me, you may infer from the fact that
it gives me great pleasure to leave
my fortune to you. I believe from
what I know of you, that you will use
it far more wisely than I have been
able to do. I have sometimes dream
ed that you cared for me, and out
side of spiritual things which have
grown very clear to me of late, there
is nothing in the world quite so
precious as that thought —nothing.
Good-bye. Do your best for oth
ers. but remember that you must
gratify some of the desires of the wo
man whom I have loved with all my
heart, and for whom I wait beyond
the bar.
“Forever yours,
“POWHATTAN GREY.”
Miss Crane sat very still, after she
had read her lover’s first and last
communication, and then she lifted
her hand as if in appeal to an invis
ible presence.
“I hope that you can hear me, Pow
hattan,” she said in a low, sweet, dis
tinctive tone, “Poor as I was before
your money enriched me, I would
gladly give every dollar of it back
before I would live without this letter,
for it means everything to me —every-
thing. That once the mystery of my
own soul was translated, that once I
was loved, and that at last, even I
have received the jewel crown of
true womanhood.”
