Beach added that he looks forward to his new position being able to bring additional law en forcement resources to Emanuel County and Twin City. "We are sorry to see Chief Beach go. He has been a tremendous asset to the City. We are com forted by the fact that he will still be in law enforce ment and still serving this area of Georgia but in a federal capacity. Chief Beach will continue to as sist the Police Department through our management transition." said Twin City Mayor Matt Donaldson. Statement from Emanuel County NAACP President by DONALD K. JENKINS, President of Emanuel County NAACP In light of the contin ued killing of unarmed black people, males in particular with a few females included, at the hands of officers of the law, I have waited on the Holy Spirit to tell me what to say. So tonight on Pentecostal Sunday, I write these thoughts with whoever reads this post. America calls itself a Christian nation, so I offer this observa tion given to us by the Apostle Paul on one of his journeys to Greece. While in Athens, Paul observed their idols, their superstitions, and an altar with the inscription, "TO THE UNKNOWN GOD." During Paul's denun ciation of the men of Athens, is recorded in Acts 17:24-28. God who PRESIDENT JENKINS made the world and all things therein, seeing that He is the Lord of Heaven and earth. To paraphrase, He does not dwell in temples made with hands, and He is not worshipped with men's hands (their idols). God needs noth ing as He is the giver of all life and breath and all things. Verse 26 reads: "And He has made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth (all having their origin in Adam)." This eliminates any type of racial superior ity; He has determined the bounds of their hab itation. Verse 28 states that in Him, we all live and move and have our being. God is the source of all life. I write this hopeful ly free of rhetoric as a call to people of all races to recognize that we are all children of God. May I suggest to those of us in positions of power, influence, and comfort to begin to look to find out the root causes of all this evil piled upon evil with the disenfranchised always being victim ized and always with no justice. I ask more of my white friends and acquaintances to speak up and speak out if you find value in my words. Let's start a genuine dialogue where every side talks, listens, and seeks understanding. Because we have to send our paper to press by 3 p.m. every Tuesday, the public should know that includ ing the primary election results in the June 10 paper will be impossible. As a result, we're turning to technology to help us bring you the informa tion you'll want most on the night of June 9. We're calling this special broad cast Election Night Live. Make note to tune into Emanuel County Live on Facebook around 6 p.m. We will have a team of three stationed at the polls: our publisher will be inside collecting results as they become available. Our newsroom editor will relay those official num bers across the street to our managing editor, who will be set up on the square across from the Emanuel County Elections Office using Facebook Live to bring you numbers in real time. Results of all local races such as the ones for magistrate judge, sheriff, state senate, and district attorney will be priori tized and reported first, although results for other state and national races might be provided as well at some point during the stream. This coverage is made possible by RoofUS, PruittHealth, Quality Air, Yeomans & Associates, and Domino's. Please understand that we have no intention of abandon ing our print product; results will appear in the June 17 edition of The Blade. This is simply our way of trying to provide the public with reliable election results in the quickest way possible. We feel confident there will be no streaming issues, but please also understand this is new territory for us and would appreciate your patience and grace in the event we have any mishaps along the way.
