Wayne G Mr. Wayne G. Irvin, age 81, formerly of Swainsboro, presently of Adrian, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, February 9, 2021, at Bethany Oaks Health and Rehabilitation Center in Vidalia. Funeral services were conducted and livestreamed Thursday, February 11, at 2 p.m. at the Blackville Church of God with Pastor Kip Boswell officiating. The family received friends on Thursday at the church from 1 p.m. until the hour of service. Mr. Irvin will be laid to rest with his parents and brothers in the family plot in Swainsboro City Cemetery. Born in Carrolton, GA, he was the eldest of four children born to the late H. C. and Janie McRae Irvin. As a young child, the family moved to Swainsboro where Wayne was a graduate of Swainsboro High School Class of 1957. As a teenag er, he worked in the family business, Irvin Implement Company, (the John Deere Dealership), which he would become the sec ond-generation owner / operator until retiring in the mid 1970s. Mr. Irvin was meticulous and accomplished in every thing he did, including woodworking, rebuild ing John Deere engines, refurbishing old classic cars, Indian motorcy- . Irvin, 81 IRVIN cles, and taste testing Banana Pudding. He loved gospel music and was always standing and clapping, (some times in rhythm, some times not), and praising at the Blackville Church of God. In addition to his parents, Mr. Irvin is preceded in death by his two brothers, Sidney McLain Irvin and William McRae (Billy Mac) Irvin. Mr. Irvin leaves behind his wife, Joan Rowland Irvin of Adrian; children, Wayne "Noot" Irvin (Karen) of Swainsboro, Regina Harrell (Mike) of North Augusta, SC, Renee Martin of North Augusta, SC, Jay DeWayne Irvin (Kristie) of Swainsboro, Jeff Eno (Kristi) of Canton, and Missy Eno of Murfreesboro, TN; sister, Linda Winn (Walter) of NC; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a niece and a neph ew. A celebration of life was held Saturday, Febru ary 13, 2021 at 12 p.m. at the Swainsboro City Auditorium. Rev. Leroy Jordan presided and Pastor Nick Robertson officiated. Interment was in the Swainsboro City Cemetery. Mr. Dwayne Alan Foots was born on No vember 10, 1978, in Emanuel County Hos pital to Alice Foots of Swainsboro and Ed ward Wise of Vida lia. At an early age, he joined Coleman Tem ple Holiness Church, where he served as a junior deacon and sang in the choir. Later, he joined Consuming Fire Ministries in Swains boro. Foots was preceded in death by his baby girl, Deorie Foots; broth er, Hal Foots; paternal grandparents, Sarah Nell and Adam Wise Jr.; and maternal grand parents, Rev. Clarence Coleman and Rev. Lu cille Coleman. He remains cherished in loving memories by his wife, Carla Foots, sons; Dorein Foots, Caziah Foots, Calynn Foots and Shanjuan- yea Wadley; and one daughter, Yiale Foots, all of Swainsboro; par ents, Alice Foots of FOOTS Swainsboro and Ed ward (Dorothy) Wise of Vidalia; four sisters, Lucy Foots of Lithonia, Raven Wise of Vida lia, Brooke (Jimmy) Hodges of Augusta, and Daniell Foots of Swainsboro; four broth ers, Timothy (Angela) Foots of Holiday, Fla., Mark (Bonita) Wise of Suffolk, Va., Dallas Wise of Virginia Beach, Va., and Bryon Foots of Swainsboro; one sister- in-law, Crystal Wilson of Greenville, SC; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Pallbearers were Mike Smith, Clifford Williams, James Ellison, Sergio Washington, Lynn Foots and Bran don Hamiel. Honorary pallbearers were mem bers of Norfolk South ern Railroad. Flower bearers were Swains boro Class of 1998. Mosley's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. John William "J.W " Hook, 73 Mr. John William "J.W." Hooks, 73, of Swainsboro, passed away Wednesday, Feb ruary 10, 2021, at AU Medical Center in Augusta following an extended illness. Funer al services were held Saturday, February 13, at 11 a.m. at El Beth el Baptist Church with Reverends Joe Bed- good, Louis Pearce and Ray Jenkins officiating. Interment followed in Eastbrook Cemetery & Mausoleum. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb ruary 12, at Chapman Funeral Home. In com pliance with the guide lines set by the CDC, 6-feet rule was enforced during visitation and service. Pallbearers were Larry Morrison, Jeff Newsome, Bobby Mason, Cliff Mason, Ben Thompson, Shawn Riner, and Chris Fowler. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Henry, Ray mond Riner, Joe Kirk land, Steve Johnson, and Stebo Moore. Mr. Hooks was born February 21, 1947, in Swainsboro, to the late John A. Hooks and Bur nell Fordham Hooks. HOOKS He was a member of El Bethel Baptist Church. Mr. Hooks is preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Taylor Hooks; and sister, Con nie Oglesby. Survivors include his wife, Mickey Hooks of Swainsboro; son, Shawn (Brook) Hooks of Swainsboro; daugh ter, Tabatha (Ray) Downer of Swainsboro; brother, Ronnie Hooks of Tampa, FL; sisters, Hazel Harris of Mobile, AL and Vickie Gay of Swainsboro; grandchil dren, Jarrod (Susannah) Downer, Jada Downer, Chase Hooks, Makay- la Clifton, Charla Clif ton, and William Tate Hooks; several nieces, nephews, and many friends. Almeta Richards, 80 Almerta Richards, for merly of Freeport, New York, passed away on Wednesday February 3, 2021, at Cambridge Post-Acute Care Cen ter in Snellville. Grave side services were held Wednesday, February 10, 2021 in the Swains boro City Cemetery with Pastor Leonard Richards presenting the eulogy. Originally from Swainsboro, Almer ta Richards moved to New York, settling in the small town of Free port. During her time in Freeport, she became a fixture in the commu nity. Richards was very active in the church, Greater 2 nd Baptist Church, as she served on several boards and committees. In addi tion to her commitment to the church, Richards was also union presi dent at AFL-CIO Hospi tal Laundry Facility and a certified home health care worker. More im portantly, Richards was an individual who held everyone account able for their actions RICHARDS with her strong words. She always demanded greatness and pushed individuals to achieve great heights, even in the face of adversity and uncertainty. Survivors include three children, Ricky and Joann Richards of New York, Vickie and Scott Floyd of Las Ve gas, Nevada, and Pau la Richards of Atlanta; seven grandchildren, Angel Bell, Lamar Bell, Ronald Adams, Mar quise Williams, Den nis Bouknight, Corey and Chena Hackett, and Kimani Hackett; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Mosley's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Van Harris Wheeler, 70 Mr. Van Harris Wheeler, 70, resident of Swainsboro, died Sun day, February 14, 2021 at his residence. Mr. Wheeler was born in Emanuel County, son of the late John T. Wheel er and Frances Bridges Wheeler. He had lived in Florida for many years and returned to Swainsboro 19 years ago. Wheeler was a se curity officer. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Victoria Beach; a sis ter, Catherine Hopkins; and a brother, Marvin Wheeler. Survivors include a brother; Paul Wheeler; three sisters, Sarah Far row, Vicky Fowler, and Lynn Price; and several nieces and nephews. The family will hold a private memorial ser vice at a later date. Arrangements are by Tomlinson Funeral Home and Crematory.
