The Bulldogs de feated Screven Co. 79-64 in the first round, setting up the clash against the Tigers in the Champion ship game. Senior Prencis Harden was the scoring leader in the game for ECI, putting 30 points on the board. NuTuri Smith was the other Bulldog in double digits with 14 points. The Lady Dawgs host ed the first round of the state playoff Tuesday (yesterday) facing the In dians from Charlton Co. Charlton enters the playoffs as the number four seed from region 2 with a season record of 14-9. The event took place at 4 p.m. and all guests were served Cowboy Fries and Georgia Dogs, signature dishes of Rod Patterson, founder of Pam's Magic Sauce. Trimmings of fries and cake were presented with each plate as well as drinks and t-shirts. "I'm thankful that the Mayor of Twin City welcomed me with open arms, as well as the entire community and Chamber of Commerce. I look forward to being a part of the community and growing. I have additional locations in the works of opening as we speak and I cannot wait to share more informa tion with the public in the near future. As excited as I am, I give all credit to God for such accomplishments and am thankful for the support received from the local community" Patterson stated. Twin City centennial kick-off ceremony set for Friday In celebration of its 100th year as an established city within Emanuel County, the city of Twin City will host a centennial kick-off ceremony this Friday, Feb. 26, from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. The event will take place at the Twin City Welcome Center and will include a tour of the old city jail that has recently underwent ren ovation work. At this particular celebration, Twin City will highlight the mayors of Twin City from 1936 to current. Hope to see you there! I!S« SWAINSBORO CLAIMS REGION CHAMPIONSHIP Swainsboro Tigers blow through Region Tournament by TROUP BRINSON The Swainsboro Tigers swept their two games of the region tournament with little resistance, claiming the champi onship by rolling the Toombs County Bulldogs 79-60. Swainsboro (16-1) takes their #1 seed into the state playoffs, which will begin Wednesday night in the Tigers' Den against Bleckley County (5-20). The Tigers are play ing their best basketball at the most opportune time, and their two re gion foes paid the price last week. With a swarm ing defense, Swainsboro overwhelmed Jeff Davis in the semifinals, jump ing out to a 27-7 lead in the opening quarter. CWS is currently serv ing the City of Swainsboro as the contractor for Water, Wastewater, and Public Works operations, and contributes time and manpower to City projects as part of its partnership commitment to building communities. More blighted properties are scheduled for remediation or removal as part of a community cleanup in the coming year.
