Sam’s Club to create 600 jobs at Douglas County Fulfillment Center

and invest more than $142 million in a new fulfillment center in Douglas County. Touting
Georgia’s reliable infrastructure. Gov. Kemp explained that companies choose Georgia to
reach markets across the state, nation, and the world.

Georgia lawmakers prepare state for EV era
The state is preparing to build a network of EV charging stations across the state and the
General Assembly is deciding how the stations should be operated and how to tax the
electricity sold to EV owners.
As the country prepares for the age of electric vehicles, Georgia lawmakers are preparing
as well. House Bill 406 would end the practice of EV owners paying to charge their vehi
cles based upon the time it takes. Instead, they would be charged per kilowatt-hour.
As more Georgians make the switch from gasoline-powered vehicles to EVs, the state will
lose a large portion of gas tax revenue.
EV owners already pay an annual fee of $210 to the state. The EV bills would also add a
sales tax on EV owners who use the charging stations as a separate excise tax.
Two dead, Six injured at house party
Two people are dead and six others injured after a shooting at a Douglas County house

home told a local news station they held a Sweet 16 party for the daughter and chose to
end it at 10 p m., claiming one of the guests was smoking marijuana. It is unclear if any
adults were present at the time of the shooting.
Information remains limited as law enforcement ask that anyone with information about
the assailant to contact their nearest law enforcement office.

"Open Our
Eyes, Lord"
By Sam Eades, Publisher/Writer
for
The Times
Lent season is here again and it is a wonderful season
filled with self examination and rededication to Christ. Or at
least that is how I see it. I believe Lent is a time we can reflect
on our lives and see the things we need to change as we wait in anticipation of the risen Christ.
One Sunday during worship, I remember a lady coming up during altar call and asking if she
could sing a song that the Lord had laid on her heart. Now, of course, I did not know the lady,
she seemed to be a visitor and a very compassionate . Of course we were glad to have her sing
what the Lord had laid on her heart. However, as a Minister of Music, I usually like to hear
someone first, you know, just in case.
She proceeded to sing the hymn "Open our eyes, Lord. " Now, I have to say her voice was
not one you would want singing in the Choir or on the praise and worship team ( or so, I
thought) However, the more she sang, the more God started to work on my heart. Tears started
to flow and the Lord began a work on me. Acutally, I was
not the only one., there was not a dry eye in the house. There
were hands lifted all over. People were coming to the altar to
receive Christ and some just for prayer. A revival had started!
| It is truly amazing how God can take someone annointed
and give us a lesson in love. From that moment on, I never
questioned how God would move. My lesson was that God
can use anyone. Those that cannot sing, those that can and
yes, even those that cannot speak. Every person loved by
God can be a vessel to reach even the unreachable. You see,
I had become dry, simply stuck in the miry clay. But, I thank
God that this servant of Christ showed up that day at the right
^ time and the right moment to give us all a lesson of love and
acceptance. That is what Lent should be all about.
“Open my eyes Lord,” is a prayer—a prayer that Christ will
“open the eyes of my heart,” because “I want to see You.” It
prays to see Christ “high and lifted up”—a reference both to
Christ’s being lifted up on a cross and also to Christ’s exaltation, as revealed in Paul’s letter to
the Philippians. Paul first talked about Christ’s existing in the fomi of God, but willingly emp
tying himself “to take the fomi of a servant,” taking on human fomi, and submitting to death on
a cross.
This hymn was written by Paul Baloche' and had its beginning when Baloche (born 1962)
heard his pastor opening his prayers with the request, “Open the eyes of our hearts, Lord, that
we may see you.” He recognized the wisdom of this request and turned that prayer into a song.
Seeing Christ as exalted is the first step toward faith in Christ.
Baloche serves as a worship leader in a church, but his most significant contribution has been
his song writing. He wrote “Above All,” “Hosanna,” and “Your Name.” His songs have been
perfomied by Michael W. Smith and other A-list Christian recording artists.
Paul told the Ephesian Christians that he never ceased to pray for them:“that the God of
our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation
in the knowledge of (Christ); having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know
what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inhteritance in the
saints.’’(Ephesians 1:17-18) Sing with me....
Open our eyes Lord Open our ears Lord
We want to see Jesus And Help us to listen
To reach out and touch Him Open our eyes Lord
And say that we love Him We want to see Jesus
