The March 7, 2023 city council meeting covered a wide
array of topics and included much discussion on plans for
future ordinances.
Among the topics discussed and resolutions passed were
the adoption of the new 2023-2028 Jenkins County Joint
Comprehensive Plan, a request from the Chamber to block
park of Cotton Avenue for the Chamber banquet on March
23, 2023 was approved, the local beer and wine licenses,
as well as distilled spirits license renewed, and a public
hearing scheduled for March 16th to discuss funding for
blighted property clean up.
Additionally, the City Council has been discussing and
researching Honorary road names, with signs that can
be purchased by citizens and put in place for a period of
10 years. The final decision regarding the honorary road
names was tabled until the next council meeting.
