As with every year, the season kicks off with an all-day event of t-ball, coach pitch, machine pitch baseball and softball, and live pitch baseball and softball. Without a doubt, there were laughs, tears, fun, and all the other emotions that a full day of athletics provides. The day starts with the annual introduction of teams and finally the familiar cry of, “Play Ball.” Games began shortly after the opening day ceremonies, and on this day, games were played until late in the afternoon. While the weathemian was calling for rain all day and many doubted the ability to play, only a short delay in the day due to lightning slowed the day. From now until the last week of April, nearly every night of the week will feature games at the Recreation Department. Check often with the Jenkins County Recreation Department for a weekly schedule so that you can come and enjoy some great, young athletes.
