The Ogeechee Riverkeeper
is holding their membership
drive during the month
of April. Damon Mullis,
executive director says,
“becoming a member of
ORK allows us to continue
the important work of
testing water quality,
sharing stories from the
watershed, coordinating
cleanup efforts and
providing recreational
guidance.”
Adding your name to the
membership list is critical
to the legislative efforts
and grant applications
of the organization. In
recent months, ORK has
celebrated Milliken’s
removal of PFAS from
production lines around the
world; defeated a proposed
gravel quarry; helped
Hancock County update
ordinances; collected and
tested water samples;
installed new litter traps;
hosted a virtual annual
meeting and plastics
panel; provided updated
recreational infomiation;
launched a comprehensive
protection plan; partnered
with other environmental
organizations; created an
innovative, pandemic-safe
litter clean-up program.
The Ogeechee-Canoochee
Riverkeeper was formed in
2004 from the merger of two
organizations, Canoochee
Riverkeeper and Friends
of the Ogeechee River.

Happy Easter! We hope everyone has had a great spring break and will come visit us
refreshed and ready for your spring reading.
Did you know that the library has a book sale going on? It’s always on but this is
the best time of the year to come in and see what we have. There’s everything from
magazines to children’s books to classic literature. Some of the books are ones that have
been removed from our
shelves, but many are from
ordinary folks like you who
have been kind enough to
donate their books to us as
they do their spring cleaning.
A lot of our sale books are
in like-new condition and by
favorite authors like James
Patterson and Danielle Steel,
and they’re all on sale at only
$0.50 per bag instead of the
usual $1.00 per bag!
If you’ve come to the library
to check out one of our
laptops and been disappointed
that there weren’t enough to
go around, you’ll be glad to hear that we’ve gotten 10 new Chromebooks, with more on
the way! This project was assisted trough a grant from the Georgia Public Library Service
with federal pandemic funding from the State of Georgia Governor’s Office.
Our Crafts To Go is not only still going strong, it’s expanding! Starting this month,
we will offer one monthly teen and one monthly adult craft along with our usual weekly
children’s craft kit.
Speaking of kids, you should bring them to the library on Tuesdays at 3:30 pm! That’s
when we have our afterschool storytime, where we read them a fun book and do a craft
or activity related to the story. It’s a great time for the kids, and a great way to help them
learn reading - and kids who read succeed!
If you want to know more about what’s happening at the library, head to www facebook.
com/jenkinscountymemoriallibrary and get the latest news!
Well, that’s all for now - see you at the library!
