Well, if you’ve seen any
senior citizens wandering
the streets around the
Senior Center, they are
not lost or locked out of
the Center. We’ve been
picking up trash and
debris around the area in
observance of Earth week.
We were participating with
the Chamber of Commerce
who is sponsoring this
event for our community.
Mandy and Becky
delivered us buckets and
trash bags along with
trash grabbers and even
water... everything we
needed! Taking care of the
environment begins with us
and our local communities.
It’s amazing how much
trash can accumulate along
the roads and highways
and empty lots. It did not
take us long to make a big
difference in the appearance
surrounding our Center.
Our city workers do a
great job taking care of our
town, but they can only do
so much. Sometimes we
get accustomed to looking
around and seeing trash
and just complaining about
it. If each of us took just a
few minutes to look around
at the Jenkins
County Senior
Citizen Center

could do to help, we could
really make a difference in
our town.
We are also grateful to
the Millen Garden Club
for donating flowers for
our planters in from of
our building. We had a
good time laughing while
planting these flowers and
making the entrance look
more attractive! We really
felt proud of our area once
we picked up the trash and
spmced it up for the spring
and summer!
