The Millen Garden Council consists of the Millen Garden Club and the Green Thumb Garden Club. The Millen Garden Council is affiliated with the National Garden Council, Deep South Garden Clubs, Inc., Georgia Council of Garden Clubs, and the Oleander District. The purpose of local garden clubs is to promote an appreciation of gardening and to promote civic and environmental responsibility by education, conservation, and beautification. Several activities were conducted by the Millen clubs to commemorate the Garden Week in Georgia. The Millen Garden Club prepared container pots to be placed outside the entrance of the Jenkins County Senior Center and will continue to maintain the rose garden next to the Jenkins County Chamber of Commerce building. The Green Thumb Garden Club has planted flower beds at the Adult Literacy Center in Millen and will continue to maintain the beds. Millen Garden Club and Jenkins County Senior Citizen Center representatives Lori Taylor, Buddy Pope, Hazel Banner, and Lisa Dailey planted pots at the entrance of the Senior Center.
