Jenkins GOP holds
quarterly meeting
By Jake Gay, Reporter
for
The Times
The Jenkins County GOP held their quarterly meeting last
week at Cafe on Cotton. The group heard from guest speaker
William Harris, former candidate for District 126 in the State
Representative race last year. Harris lost the election to Democrat
incumbent Gloria Frazier but by a slim margin. He was the winner
of Jenkins County.
Mr. Harris spoke of his humble background. He was the youngest
of 12 children in a Christian household that saw his father, who
was a preacher, instill Christian values in his life at a young age
“Not a day went by that my dad didn’t have a Bible in his hand
or ask me to read a passage of scripture” Harris stated. After a
lengthy career in the US Army, Harris became a teacher, teaching
at Glenn Hills High School.
The next GOP meeting will be announced at a later date.
