Studying abroad in England
By Tyler Busch,

The Times
It has been a very busy,
but fun-filled week. I am
currently in Dublin, Ireland
with some friends from my
study abroad group for
a quick visit to immerse
ourselves in Irish culture.
This trip had been planned
in advance and I am glad
it came together! Staying
in a nice hotel is a great
reprieve from our very
basic living standards in
the dorms back in London.
When I mean basic, I mean
basic, but it serves the
purpose.
This past week classes
began as well as the
corresponding field trips.
This week I visited the
Jack the Ripper Museum,
Bank of England, a Harry
Potter tour of some of the
London filming spots, the
White Cliffs of Dover,
Buckingham Palace, and
more. My favorite one of
these would have to be the
White Cliffs of Dover but
Buckingham Palace comes
in a close second.
If you haven’t been to
the cliffs of Dover I highly
recommend, but go on a
clear day. Those are not
super common but we were
lucky, clear-blue skies and
warm. When we hiked to
the white lighthouse on
top of the cliffs, we all had
proper tea (with China and
everything). I’m pretty sure
everyone enjoyed being
a lady for a little bit. The
water was gorgeous, and
yes we could see France
way out in the distance. We
all were in awe of what
we were seeing in front of
us. The weather could not
have been more perfect!
I finally had my first fish
and chips in England and
it did not disappoint. I also
had a pint of Strongbow
cider (on draft) at the local
pub by the dorm with a
friend. I liked it more than
I thought, and have never
had hard cider before.
This was a perfect way to
end our evening starting
at going to Buckingham
Palace, then to Chinatown
for dinner, and back to
our temporary stomping
grounds.
It is nice not having
to worry about driving
somewhere; everything is
within walking distance
from the dorm like the
local grocery store (Tesco)
and other necessities. I
know we all are putting
many miles in our shoes
and hopefully lose a little
weight when this is all
set and done. It is just the
beginning.
Read next week’s issues
to hear about my new
adventures and stories to
share. Cheers.
