It came about due to a group of people wanting to expand healthcare access to all. It is a non-profit organization that today covers a service area of 13 counties, with 15 delivery sites. Peyton Frye, who is the practice manager for EGHC states, ‘EGHC offers a wide array of primary care with providing well-checks, sick visits, basic women's healthcare, family planning services, chronic conditions” and other services. Each delivery site does differ in what services are provided. EGHC also provides healthcare through its outreach program which started as Frye says, “through serving our seasonal farm workers’. EGHC has 5 full-service mobile units. They also provide healthcare to students which they call “school-based care.” This other branch of outreach EGHC provides medical care to select elementary schools in their coverage area. Their school- based care outreach program began at Claxton Elementary in Evans County, GA. Medical care is not exclusively available to the students but to the faculty, staff, parents, and bus drivers as well. Frye states this particular outreach program is, “very successful, a mutually beneficial service” with expansion plans to grow this service to more students in their coverage area. EGHC does bring its mobile unit to Jenkins County Elementary on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Jill Davis will be the new PA providing healthcare to Jenkins County students and staff this year, after having been recently hired earlier this summer. She will be taking over for FNP Brandon Johnson, who provided care for both Jenkins and Emmanuel County students. He will be providing care to just Emmanuel County students. Frye states, “we felt the need to grow in both counties, we need to hire an additional provider.” He also says, Pictured are Brandon Johnson, FNP and Jill Davis, PA.
