Under the
Bleachers
The cool, fall air is
slowly making its way
into our area, college
football has several games
in, baseball is coming to
an end, and basketball is
slowly creeping up on
us. Before we know it
we will be eating turkey,
decorating the trees, and
wondering if Georgia will
win a third straight national
championship.
The first week of April
the new MLB season began.
Now, as we approach the
end of September, there
are about 5-7 games left
on every teams schedule. It
is amazing that 162 games
have pass so quickly, but
playoffs begin in one short
week!
At the beginning of the
MLB season, I made a
few predictions of how I
thought the season would
go. While I got a couple
of the projections right,
baseball continues to
surprise everyone!
I did predict the Atlanta
Braves to win their sixth
straight NL East title, they
clinched that nearly two
weeks ago! I also predicted
that the Minnesota Twins
would win the AL Central.
That also panned out.
However, with only six
games left, that may be the
only predicitions I get right.
The
Milwaukee Brewers
will take the NL Central,
I projected the Cardinals.
The Cardinals had one
of their worst seasons
in several years. In the
AL East, I assumed the
Yankees would dominate;
they will not make playoffs
either. The NL West was
not won by the Padres, it is
the Dodgers once again.
I projected two “dark
horse” teams, the Pittsburgh
Pirates and the Baltimore
Orioles. I thought they
would surprise some teams,
but not necessarily make
it far. The Pirates started
the season off hot and led
for a short time. They then
fell apart. However, the
Baltimore Orioles have
the second-best record in
baseball and are battling to
win the AL East.
Predictions are simply
just educated guesses. You
can follow the statistics,
watch every game, and still
get it wrong. Every week,
we put in the paper the
Pigskin Pick’ em andpeople
make educated guesses.
Sometimes people guess
it accurately, but most of
the time predictions cannot
be “taken to the bank.” I
have heard it said that there
are two certainties in life,
“Death and taxes.” I would
contend that taxes are not
even guaranteed, there is a
chance you die before the
taxes are due!
Yes, death is certain, but
a greater certainty is God!
He is often the last One
we turn to rather than the
first. The reality is. He will
never leave you and He
will never let you down.
Deuteronomy 31:6
says, “Be strong and
courageous. Do not be
afraid or terrified because
of them, for the Lord your
God goes with you; he
will never leave you nor
forsake you.”
There is not much
you can place concrete
certainty on, but God you
can trust 100% of the time.
He will never leave you,
nor forsake you! Even if
you get caught up Under
the
Bleachers, the Lord
knows where you are and
will bring you home to
Him.

The Lady War Eagles faced their busiest week yet starting
on September 18th, with games against New Hampstead,
McIntosh County Academy, and a doubleheader against
Portal. However, the team rose to the challenge and not
only defeated their opponents but dominated them. They
outscored their opponents 54-4 over four games, averaging
an impressive 13.5 runs per game. Their success culminated
in a record-breaking 12th win on Thursday, making them
the winningest team in Lady War Eagle history. To put this
achievement into perspective, their total number of wins
over the last three seasons combined is just 14. The Lady
War Eagles' exceptional performance is a testament to
their hard work and dedication to the sport.
Fans are taking note
of this historical season.
One fan commented
saying, “These girls
appear to be having fun
while playing the game
they love.” The smiles on
the faces of the players
during and after the
games reveal that they are
enjoying every second
on the diamond. Cheers
are erupting from the
dugout, encouragement
is being given on the
field, and fans are getting
to watch a team winning
games. Head Coach
Renee Heam, Assistant
Coach Callie Dailey, and
Assistant Coach Kolbie
Motes have their team
in late-season form with
the playoffs looming in
the near future.
The Lady War Eagles
are soaring high in the
Region 3 standings with
an undefeated record,
but their toughest challenge yet is on the horizon as they
prepare to face off against ECI. Despite being ranked
10th in the state by Max Preps as of September 25th, the
Lady War Eagles are expected to climb higher in the
rankings after their impressive perfomiance last week. It's
certainly a noteworthy achievement for the team, especially
considering they finished 28th in Class A Division 2 last
season.
One of the Lady War Eagles' recent victories came
against New Hampstead, where they showcased their
dominance with a stunning nine-mn second inning. The
Lady War Eagles had already secured a lead with one run in
the first inning, but their incredible offensive display in the
second inning made it clear that they were the team to beat.
Pitcher Katie Bell also had an impressive showing, striking
out five batters and allowing no hits while also contributing
two hits and scoring twice.
The Lady War Eagles continued their winning streak
with a commanding 17-1 victory over McIntosh County
Academy in a regional matchup. Shayna Lake was the
standout player of the game, hitting a home run and a double
in her 2-for-2 night and scoring three times with three RBIs.
The Lady War Eagles' dominant performance in this
game was exemplified by their ability to score nine runs in
the first inning alone.
After a day off,
they would then face
region rival Portal in
a doubleheader. The
game required seven
innings, which is a
egulation softball game,
but the Lady War Eagles
prevailed with a 13-2 win.
My Abraham offensively
hit 3 for 3 and scored
three runs to lead the way
for the Lady War Eagles.
Through six innings
the Lady War Eagles led
7-0; however, in the 7 th
inning, the War Eagles
turned up the offensive
intensity and scored six
runs!
The last game of the
week and the second
game of the night on
Thursday was once again
all Lady War Eagles.
Even though Portal took
a 1-0 lead in the second
inning, the Lady War
Eagles would respond
with seven runs! Offensively, Lohgan Walker had a great
night finishing 2 for 3 and with one run scored and one RBI.
The Lady War Eagles are hitting the road this week with
two challenging games ahead. As they aim to keep their
impressive five-game winning streak intact, the stakes
couldn't be higher with just fivegames left in the season.
On Tuesday, the team will face off against a formidable
opponent in what promises to be a thrilling matchup.
This season, with every game, Head Coach Renee Hearn
uses #webelieve at the end of the pictures. We too, as a
community, believe this team has already accomplished
great things; however, we believe it is not done yet!
